Captain_Shiny: Oops, sry about that headline - "most big sales" was how I intentionally phrased it in the text itself cause I noticed that it's certainly not true for all sales big or small. I didn't give much thought to the headline tbh. Anyway, I assume that it's most or many big sales. I don't have concrete evidence other than my memory, though and that might play tricks on me but I'm rather convinced that "many" is at least a fitting qualifier. I also include Steam sales for that, btw.

skeletonbow: Ah, I've never had that impression myself, but I had a look only at GOG's major promotions over the last 4 years and they are rather equally scattered with no seeming pattern in terms of offset into the month. Not sure about Steam or other stores sales as I haven't looked at that but I have observed that GOG sales often seem to precede Steam sales as if GOG knowingly plans their promotions ahead of Steam to drain people's wallets while they still have money in them perhaps. Not sure how closely that follows through over time, but I've noted it many times at least.

What would be interesting, would be some kind of web based sale analyzer that predicted when each store's next major sale would be based on prior sales date data. :)
Yeah! That would be pretty sweet. It would make (videogame)life a lot easier if I knew when to set aside some money for an upcoming sale. Apart from the really big seasonal sales of course - those are a given by now.
Don't spend that much on sales? I'm just waiting for all the sales to be revealed and then drop 10-20 on some BYOB. Not like you have to rush and buy every game on sale.

Although I know what you mean by this, given the context, I always think 'Bring Your Own Beer' first when I see this acronym.

And that's still a decent way to spend your quid. :P
I never had a job where I got my money on the first of the month, it was usually 1-2 weeks after that between the 10th and fifteenth. Now I have a fixed salary and while I should get my money on the first of the month, I actually get it about a week early around the 20th to 25th.

Anyway, middle to end of the month has always been the time when I had the most money because rent and regular bills weren't due till the first...
I wish I get biweekly pay instead of weekly, I think it would force me to be more frugal.

Anyway, this is appropriate for this topic.

I actually wish all the sales were in Summer because I make lodes in the summer and squat the rest of the year, Thank god I stopped celebrating Christmas.

Yeah, whenever I see the term it first means "Bring Your Own Bottle" to me, however in gaming promotion context it means "Build Your Own Bundle". :)

Hrm... the irony... :)

Why not thank the flying spaghetti monster instead? Support his noodliness with your praise and maybe gift some pirate-themed video games during the winter holiday season. Possibly have a celebration on the winter solstice, or a random day of choosing that doesn't coincide with traditions or norms, albeit clad fully in pirate attire of course and eating lots of spaghetti and meatballs! :)

Granted, but you now have to pay the same prices for games that Australia does (instead of getting Russian prices), and you *don't* get to benefit from GOG's fair price package.

(Actually, I miss the "corrupt a wish" thread, which seems to have died.)

I'm perfectly okay with proportionally increased expenses for some things. Everything else would be relatively cheaper: PC parts, bicycle parts, fountain pens on ebay, books, web hosting, art commissions, travel. Hell, I'd even be okay with the two Great Western Ripoffs (cellphone contracts and banking) if it meant a discount on everything else.
