Not a joke post. Most people who see where I live say it's beautiful but also assume the suicide rate in the winter must be ridiculous. It's not.
Come to think of it, I don't think there has been a suicide up here since I moved here in 2006.
TARFU: I knew you were gonna toss that into the ring. Why is the suicide rate so high in Russia, then? Supposedly, the seasons and weather have a real effect on personality and behavior. As much as I bitch about my weather, we DO HAVE SEASONS.
I know Russia has some beautiful areas in the south but I would imagine several areas further north are snow and gloom 365 days a year. I'd be curious to see a breakdown of where in Russia most suicides occur, if there is indeed a pattern.
