I am building my first PC and I want to run Windows 7 64 bit
but I am having problems buying a copy
Microsoft dont sell it any more
and the Amazon UK offers wont deliver to Ireland

Any suggestions?

(I want a legit copy)

I'm wondering this myself actually. All I can find are grey market sites / subreddits etc. I sadly have the feeling that unless you get it (probably overpriced) from an independant retailer, its a no-go - withdrawn by MS in favour of win 10.

You could try places where they build computers or places where they fix computers . That is what I had to do when my recovery of windows 7 64 bit would not work. I had to buy a builders copy.

Try Scan. http://www.scan.co.uk/search.aspx?q=windows+7
A top quality site.
Go to microsoft website or search google and download windows 7 trial image (yes it's full version with 30 days limitation and and with both 32 bit 86x and 64 bit 64x) and instead of getting a physical copy buy a windows 7 key.
Meet me behind Sachys' house in about three hours, I think I have something you will find very appealing.

I dont think the bus to Mars is running this late.
Windows 7 has a interesting feature.
If you have Legit win 7 basic then by using any time upgrade key you can get win 7 ultimate without buying ultimate.

Does [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416806]egg work in your part of the globe? It's always a good place to look for computer stuff..

Yes MS seem to have closed down on W7
Their store sales agent just said there was nothing they could do
but I might be able to get it from a retailer
the Scan site looks fine to me
an OEM copy
which will do

You dont need disc.
Just download trial windows 7.
And buy key from somewhere else.
Because some of trial windows 7 comes with SP1.

But beware of student edition keys that expires after 1 install... Also I would suggest you to see the official MS resellers for your country, they probably have some copies left.
1) You *dont* require disc, a *license* (key) is sufficient.
2) Microsoft allows you to download ISO (yes, disc image) of windows - if you have the key. Yes, to burn it on your disc.
3) You can still download official ISO of windows without key requirement. In the past, MS did that. NOTE: you *will* need a key to activate it (see 1).
4) You can buy legal windows key at trusted seller very cheap - nearly at OEM price ($20-$40), for example reddit has dedicated thread.

Buy key, Download ISO, Burn, Install, Activate.

But Linux is much better.
Should you want to install Linux everywhere - you can delete Windows straightaway, provided you have KEY somewhere. This allows you to get windows any time back (should you want it).

i am very happy with my old win7

noway i am gonna get win 10 now

its still 4 years or so till the sec. patches wont arrive anymore so i have plenty time to think what i will do regarding that awful win 10

more users are reverting to win7, ofcourse there will always be welknown websites that will promote win 10 and recommend it, but thats these sites usually get some cash or keys from mickeysoft :D
Mickeysoft will never admit that, but thats the way it always goes in the big business world, always in denial.

Mickeysoft should make software we want, i read articles that the more advanced /seasoned windows users are not that fond of win 10 the way it is now.

I think the average user that uses windows mainly to play a simple local game or online game, download some music at applestore or google, or mainly to chat with there friends using socialmedia will be the ones that dont see any bad things in win 10.

But if you want to have more control on on things then win 10 is not the choice , compared to 7 it does what mickeysoft wants and not what the user wants win 10 to do.

I think mickeysoft should have kept the win version for mobiles different , metrointerface on a laptop/ desktop without touchscreen doesnt work, and all that flat stuff? you hardly see the differnce between a picture or a link/button if you dont touch or hover over it.
