So....
with all the fuss regarding the new profiles, things not hidden properly even if everything is set to private and stuff while yours truly actually likes the idea though - and just thinks it's really badly implemented (and defaulted) right now, same yours truly started wondering - what conclusions could be made from viewing a profile? I will start with a few thoughts, but please go wild.

Only a few games, but lots of game time:
Probably out of work - no money, much time at hand.

Racks up 100h per week in game time
Lonely.

Lots of games, has game time, but only a couple of hours per week
Middle class. Earns well, got family and kids.

Average number of games. Game time zero
Doesn't use Galaxy. Maybe Linux user.

One game, thousands of hours
Gwent addict.

Ok... onto more public profiles:

Plays a lot of games like Downfall, The Cat Lady, etc.
Depression.

Always plays the newest games
Consumer sheep. Easy to hype.

Plays a lot of oldies
Old guy...

Rapidly switches games, rarely finished any
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Avoids war games
War veteran.

Now you.
I'm a war veteran who plays war games… maybe you should change your assessment to PTSD.

One or two games, thousands of hours, maxed achievements
Insecure
It's not really about what can be learned from the profiles alone. Because pretty much everything you listed can have a number of different explanations.

For example someone who plays a lot of old games here can indeed be an old guy on a nostalgia trip... or it can be a young person who buys new games elsewhere and uses GOG primarly to discover classic games they heard a lot about.

Only a few games, but lots of game time:
Probably out of work - no money, much time at hand. - might be, or it might be someone retired, with a healthy bank account, who isn't much of a gamer really, he just really likes those few titles.

No, as already said in the two big threads about the profiles it's about two things
1 much more specific and accurate conclusions that can be made when data from different sources is cross refrenced
2 stuff that some people just don't want to show anyone for no other reason than "because it's none of anyone's business"

You must be real fun at parties.
I can't tell if you know what you're doing.

Either way, bravo. Well done.

edit: forgot to stay on topic.

Games page public but friends page private

Considerate. Or desperate for approval, trying to use game library as a status symbol and may have concerns about the perceived quality of the friends list.

That user might not be a guy.

In fact, the user might be young, but curious about the history of such games.

A few other things one can tell from one's profile:

Uses the word "SJW" in posts: User is likely a bigot

Uses the word "SJW" in profile descriptions: User is not as likely to be a bigot

"she/her" in profile (or forum title): User identifies as female, and is likely either trans or a trans ally (know any user with this string in her forum title?) (Also, you could see "he/him", "they/them", or even "it/its" as pronouns; said people go by the specified pronouns)

Empty game library: User either is new, or is a non-gamer who happens to have an account, or could be a spammer

Last game played 1+ year ago: User abandoned gaming, GOG, or Galaxy

Has played Arena more than Oblivion: Fan of ancient TES games

Plays mainly Ultima 4 and Tyrian 2000: Likes old games, but doesn't like spending money

Hey, there's are entire pages of people calling everyone with any complaint about the profiles a tinfoil hat nutjob (at best). Sorry if I want to make sure this thread doesn not get treated as proof of that.

Also, you're right- I am no fun at parties at all. If I were, I wouldn't be here:D
