Dune 2 is mostly to blame for the creation of this thread. In dune 2 if you want to construct/train something, the game opens a new window (full screen) where you can select what you want to build/train/order. As such there is a lot of extra space on the screen, which is used to display 'large' images of the units/buildings in question done by an artist. I was simply blown away by these as a kid, in particular those for the buildings which were animated.
IX was, and still is my favorite. There's just something about monolithic structures in the desert that I find impossibly cool :P

Does anyone else have a favorite building/structure from a strategy game? with a screenshot?

I had a hard time narrowing down my favorite (lots of runners up) but I think I have to go with the orc fortress from Warcraft 2 (http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Warcraft_II_structures). It's a very striking and iconic structure sets the entire tone for the entire orc faction.
Does the Infested Command Center count?

Great choice! Though personally I would select the lower tier Stronghold which, for some reason, made far more of an impression on me. Perhaps because it looks so utterly indestructible, especially when compared to the Great Hall.
mmm, I wouldn't say favorite but the Obelisk of Nod is really cool and iconic.

Of course! I like the terran bunker a lot for some reason :P
I like the massive launch arcos from Sim City 2000 and the Colosseum from Caesar III

Great minds think alike. I opened this thread with exactly this in mind.

This.

The C&C series has many great looking (and functioning) buildings, espicaliy in RA2.
Red Alert 2. Nuclear Silo Superweapon. I love that stuff. Hey gog, do get the license to sell C&C titles dammit; unlike you, EA would never care any less about compatibility with modern systems.

damn that structure give me dragon ball z vibe,
Atreides barracks from Emperor: Battle for Dune since they kind off give me the perfect imperial feeling :)

Tesla Coil from C&C though is probably the building we all have a special place for.

It seems to be the winner here already.
Isn't it beautiful? I want a real one. :)
