If you want Wayland then your best bet is Fedora 28 with Gnome. Unfortunately XFCE and KDE will be late to receive Wayland support, so enjoy your funny-looking and somewhat twitchy font rendering in Libre Office :-)

I hate the performance of Gnome 3 on AMD A10 but I might put it on my Ryzen. XFCE for everything else, and Mate or Cinnamon is good for customisation. I just want a standard desktop so Gnome 3 looks good for that.

KDE has wayland out of the box, but you need a Desktop Manager that can launch it. GDM is obnoxious at times, so use SDDM, it can launch a wayland session.
so which distros use this version of KDE?

update - looks like the new Fedora might have it, also Manjaro

Fedora has 5.13. I'm not sure what distro you're using that doesn't have any of the wayland versions. (You might want to check the session menu.)

Oh, and you'd need to install the needed wayland session packages, of course.

Wayland is still a toy.
>screen tearing
man compiz

>wayland
I wonder why people are so hyped about this NIH bicycle with performance on same level (if not worse), than xorg

then, if you REALLY do want wayland support, use i3 and git gud
