pazZzurro: As far as I'm concerned, if anyone wants to criticize Cyberpunk 2077 harshly, let them. It's all on CDPR – they basically done that to themselves. The game has bad reputation, but it's well deserved. I consider the launch of this game to be the biggest debacle since Arkham Knight hit Steam, or perhaps even John Romero and the Daikatana fiasco.

People may defend the game all they want, saying that the bugs will be fixed or that the game is smoother now, but to me personally, these problems are not really what's wrong with this game. It's the false promises, cut content, missing features, bad mechanics... the things that were planned, developed (supposedly) for 10 years vs. the finished product.

It's a marketing disaster first and foremost. Especially considering how the situation was handeled both before and after release. I mean the arrogance from the marketing department, even going as far as to make fun of other developers... basically similar to "John Romero will make you his *itch" - utter bonkers strategy.

And those problems I mentioned - sure you can iron some things out over time, but still this will never be the game that most gamers wanted to experience. Because for that you can't just release a patch, you'd have to take the whole project back to the drawing board. That's why I don't hold my breath for anything spectacular with those "fixes".
Even at -50% I consider Cyberpunk 2077 still way overpriced for what you gonna get.

As an important disclaimer: I am not hating on anyone who likes the game and finds it good fun. All the power to them! Merely trying to show the other side here - my personal feelings are that anyone who is angry at that game is well justified.
have you actually played the game though?

XYCat: have you actually played the game though?
I knew someone would ask me that. No I haven't actually. But in this particualar case I don't see the relevance of what I said, to whether I have played it.

Please don't misunderstand. I didn't write what I did cause of some personal grudge against this game or something. In fact, I consider myself a neutral observer of the situation. I didn't write any bad review of it, but also I wasn't hyped/eagerly waiting for it before release. I kept my ear to the ground and was thinking of trying it out some time in the future after it launches, but then it launched aaand... we all know what came after. So I just decided against going for it.

I mean I could play it, but that would mean I'd have to buy it. Of course one could make a case against me by saying that since I didin't play it, I have no word in the matter. Then again anyone can agree that a concious consumer should choose wisely what they buy, so as not to feel as if they threw away their money. After all, one keeps hearing all those "wait for the reviews, do not pre-order" sentences everywhere right? So (if that even makes sense) you are actually required, as a mature consumer, to make up your opinion on a game before you have a chance of trying it out – and I mean really trying it out (like more than just 1 hour of gameplay).
So I guess I did just that by reading the reviews and reddit's, watching gameplay on YT and talking with friends who actually did buy the game... every time the conclusion was similar. The game did not hold my interest, was overhyped, didin't meet expectations, felt overpriced, the whole affair around it was handeled quite badly. Besides, I refuse to believe that thousands of players simply overreacted...

Ancient-Red-Dragon: The console version of Cyberpunk 2077 sells for $9.99 USD while on sale (which is still too high of a price for that game IMO), including for the current Black Friday sale that is being put on by retailers.

Yet PC customers are expected to pay 3 times more, and hence are being treated like second-class citizens, but somehow a lot of them still think they are getting a "great deal" and buying it en masse anyway, apparently (as evidenced by Cyberpunk going back to being GOG's #1 seller, according to the GOG website).
PC users are getting a superior product in every way. Besides performance on systems that meet requirements, there are also excellent mods to make the game even better.
My hope is that the last two tomb raider games debut finally!
Why is it when GOG has a 90% off sale, it's for games that I already own...

A second Black Friday sale this Friday with games I want would be nice.

LifeLover: Black Friday sale - and only around 60 games in it (with lot of DLCs), really? Why so small amount of games in it? Why to try make this sale if the number of games in it is so small? (?purpose of this sale only to show that you can make sale event?..)
This is a pre black friday sale...The regular one will probably be this friday followed by a cyber monday sale on Monday..

Orkhepaj: this is getting ridiculous
a presale for a presale for christmas , little way too much consumerism
I agree, although it looks like just a weekly sale with no particular theme. Best would be if the industry fixes regular prices and doesn't have such extreme sales. Maybe a few "featured games of the day/week/month" with a bit more info about them rather than multiple overlaping sales that repeat every month (like the new Thursday thing).

Since we are still in a situation where only wealthy people and people who don't know how the industry works buy full price, I'll mention the nice flash deal on My Brother Rabbit ($1.49), which is one of my favorites.

Orkhepaj: but it doesnt even work on psn :D
i doubt it doesn't work on PlayStation :
The game got delisted by Sony for a period of time on the store that's true; but it's back
Now i can't confirm it works "well" on PS4 Pro (minimum required), i don't have it and certainly don't plan to buy it on this platform...

I'm new here. I've not seen "Pre Black Friday" sales before. If I want to maximise my savings, which event should I buy from?

a) Pre Black Friday
b) Black Friday
c) Post Pre Black Friday
d) Pre Post Black Friday
e) Post Black Friday

Have I missed one?
I too think this is still some form of "pre-sale". The exact same thing happened during Halloween earlier this year. People thought that "this is gonna be it", but it turned out to be a Halloween pre-sale.
More interestingly... going with that Halloween sale experience and a few others this year, could we be seeing some big new release on friday? Like Just Cause 2 or Blood Omen earlier?
Maybe it's finally goin to be that Skyrim release – I know some people are waiting for that eagerly ;)

You should only ever purchase when it is post pre Black Friday pre post pre Xmas sale post weekly pre special pre publisher post pre early access. That way you can pick things up or the corpses of other consumers at a massive 0.0001% off crap you wouldn’t buy n the first place.

pazZzurro: ...
I'm actually willing to tell people Cyberpunk is worth it at this price point, unless you are in the group who still has serious performance issues. Despite all the disappointment, it's still a fun game, intriguing storyline, entertaining gunplay with decent 'casting' options and some beautiful scenery mostly.

Some issues people complain about also have really easy fixes, like driving becoming ten times better by simply changing the deadzones and sensitivity of the controller.

Well, that settles it. I think. Seriously, GOG should have 3 month period where you can claim any savings that a subsequent sale by them might have brought you. I'm one of those awful people who generally buy games here only when they are heavily discounted...after they've been around for a long time and are already a fraction of their original cost. In my defence though, I'm paying peanuts for games which I will probably never get around to playing. Who's the sucker in that case?

Still waiting for some games to appear on sale where I can do this.

As a reminder they do at least have a one month period where you can refund and repurchase at the lower price and we are now late enough in November that the Winter Sale will be within a month (although maybe not some things they add later). I wouldn't mind seeing a longer "refund but only to purchase again at a lower price" option but I think the current option is already better than what other game stores offer.
