Why don't you smart people go learn some Esperanto instead of Russian, Latin, German, or whatever.

Cadaver747: Actually it's "fatherland" or "homeland" but who cares. If you want to be silly I suggest to use "For Mother Russia!", that may humor some of our people.
isn't that replaced with "Russia Vperde!" if for humor sake? :)

djoxyk: isn't that replaced with "Russia Vperde!" if for humor sake? :)
Unfortunately my sense of humor is not so well developed to comprehend the juicy fun of that joke, but I believe that for this sophisticated jest alone you'll be treated like a god in my country, some may even go as far as to pay your bills and gift food.

Randalator: What game did you buy and what system did you try to run it on?
avatar
Carabbo: I don't understand why you want to know what game I bought, but if you find that useful the game is Gangster: Organized Crime. I'm on a Win10 machine.
avatar
clarry: What a shame! They should never come here.

C'mon, give them the benefit of the doubt. At least they quoted a legit reply from support, and their profile page confirms they have two games. This isn't be good enough trolling effort to be one of us forum regulars, and I can't see why a non-regular would waste their time contacting support (or finding someone else's support exchange to copy-pasta) just for a troll post that isn't even flammable.

I don't think this is a troll.

Carabbo: It's called frustration. A very common situation, unfortunately.
I have this game... runs fine on my windows 10 laptop

if you have a Gcard that doesn't show the menu text then you need the patch but apart from that there isn't any difference between Windows 10 settings and any other Windows

I don't know if this is sarcastic(it likely is), but if it is: yer one cheeky bugger. Know that m80?

avatar
Crosmando: Why the fug is the OP downrated? IT's just questions. This forum is retarded.
Because OP treated those who gave him advice or explained why he was ill advised to buy a game without checking the store page(to see if his system was supported) first with sarcasm and him acting like his figurative poo didn't smell/that he was 100% not at fault for making a bad purchase without being careful and doing research.

Carabbo: It's the internet dude c'mon, what do you expect.
But yeah, I thought avatars were more kind on GoG, because is a smaller community for who wanna play niche or very old games. So I was very impressed to see that many answers were not that nice honestly.
I'm a new user here so I don't know exactly how everyhing works on the store, jesus christ.
Most people here told you basically the same thing: It's partially your fault for buying a game without checking to see if the gog version will work on your system first, and you should check such info in the future. You were a bit smug and sarcastic to some who said such so of course they got upset.

Bookwyrm627: The first four users:
-Asked about the game with the intent of trying to help you get it working.
-Indicated the likely reason you weren't able to run the game
-Answered your actual question ("pay closer attention to system specs")
-Gave a specific example of why you might have had a problem
-Offered another answer to your actual question. ("get a refund")
-Answered your new question

Seems you weren't satisfied with the answers to your questions.

You didn't get called a troll until Post 10, and at which point you got really snippy.

I'd imagine the OP was downrated as a response to his actions.

Carabbo: Nice list. I think you could write fantastic "9 things to do when you don't know what to do" catchy blog articles.
That user you replied to was civil and didn't insult you, and you took the piss with them.

smh

Bookwyrm627: I give that a C for effort. You lose a lot of points for a lack of creativity, but brevity does have an innate quality.
avatar
Carabbo: At least I did not swear at you but tried to be funny. C'mon, admit it wasn't that bad.
You get a "point" for that, at least....now try to be nice to those trying to help you and we'll see where it goes.

"hello, comrade."
"I Think that is not good, no."
Tbf/fwiw his post(once I read the translation) made me laugh....must be how it reminds me of all those euro jank/russian games I play. :)

Cadaver747: We don't call each other "comrade" for 40-50 years I think. I'm not sure that we even addressed each other by that during USSR era despite the heavy implication from old movies and Red Alert games. Probably it's easier to find an Englishman treating to his 5 o'clock tea than Russian calling a fellow citizen "tovarisch" ("comrade" in our language). It's so cliche, it's not even true. "Lords and ladies" (in reverse order), "mister / sir and madam" (even "mistress"), "friend", "mate" (we use different word but very close in meaning), "brother", "bro" are more common.

As for the languages I would rather learn Dutch (very hard) or Deutsche (very hard) than Russian (overkill) because spelling and grammar there is spectacularly insane, even educated persons can't write properly.
Thanks for the awesome language usage lesson, cadaver. It was a nice find in this thread. :)

Carabbo: I think this discussion can be closed now.

The GoG support team contacted me again after reading this forum discussion, I suppose.
Once again they were pretty gentle with me (as I said even in my first post), asking me if I wanted a refund for the second time. I did not accuse GoG, but yeah I had (and still have) perplexities about the way listed requirements are displayed. Said that, to the smart avatars: just make a life, seriously. You're even terrible at doing simple irony.

Goodbye, adios, addio.
Again, can we be clear that 'Wallet Funds' =/= an actual refund. Is this still what they offered you? Store credit isn't a refund.

Yes, actual refund is whole sum of money return back to bank account. However when someone buys goods by bank card the store have to pay the transaction fee to bank (1% or more). In case of actual refund the store have to again pay the transaction fee. You may find it unfair, I think it's reasonable enough. Imagine how cool is it to pay double fees with no gain for a game refund when someone decides that the game is not good enough.

Completely different scenario than when a game isn't working and support themselves cannot get the game to work properly. Many stores have a... "Changed my mind!" restocking fee. This isn't the case if the item is defective in some way.

I would agree if the person with Win10 haven't bough a game for WinXP, Win7. Refund was offered still, GOG wallet is just a solution to not pay double fees. I hope you open your own store someday, maybe it'll change your point of view.

Also user ussnorway provided a suitable solution, making a game technically working. GOG should just take those 2 files, scan them for good, send them to major antivirus databases and release a Win10 patch.

Carabbo: I still don' get it. I bought a bunch of Paradox games ((just an example) on Steam that apparently should run only with older systems of Windows (XP/Vista only), but they work on Win10 if you set the right compatibility in the game's property. I completely agree: they should state CLEARLY that some games will not work on newer devices.
And now, finally, Windows users can feel like Mac users have always felt: you actually need to check the requirements, because it's not obvious it will run at all.

Cadaver747: Arkane's second game Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (Steam only)...
Perhaps it is nowadays only sold on Steam, but back in the day the single player side of that game could be installed from a disc and played without Steam just fine.

So, well smug in my polo neck sweater with a warm glow of self smugness brought on by paying twice as much for the same hardware just because it’s got a half eaten apple on it?

The difference between Steam and GOG is that Steam gets some official system requirements from the devs. They put them on the store page and never change anything. So, an old game on Steam COULD run on Windows 10, even if Windows XP is what the system requirements say. On GOG, you'll find a list of supported OSs. If Windows 10 isn't listed, the game won't work on Windows 10. At least not out of the box. An unofficial fix might work for you, but maybe it isn't stable enough for GOG to guarantee support.

maybe the reason why it only sells on steam is the multiplayer part.
