MAC WANTS THE FLAMETHROWER!

This thread is for pointing out and counteracting spam posts usually created by bots.

It's a follow-up of WE ARE UNDER ATTACK, which got locked after controversial off-topic discussion. Hence, I'd kindly ask everybody to refrain from these kind of fights in here to avoid the final nail in this thread's coffin.

So if you're part of the GOG community anti-spam force, bookmark this thread and stay alert! ;-)

Or some other quote like that - that's how You should have started this ;)

Lesson learnt ;-)
I had hoped that the inevitable successor thread would have a less histrionic-sounding title than the original...oh, well. =)

FTFY ;)
To give this thread a baptism in blood: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/vampire_the_masquerade_bloodlines_2 still has occasional Vampire Kingdom scammer ads from nearly a year ago. I don't know whether reporting wishlist spam actually does anything, though.

Neither do I, but reported it anyway. There are some obscure "Contact x via e-mail to become a vampire" spams as well.

Btw, is it just me or does the report button not work on entries shown via "Load more comments"?

Wait... what?

Yeah, that was my response the first time I saw it too...

Alas, if things on the wishlist still work the way they used to, it doesn't. One has to contact GOG Support, point them to the spam, and wait for a GOG staffer to manually clean it.

Bummer! I bet reporting each one to support would catapult me right onto their spam list.
Who is this "Mac"?

If you submit separate support tickets for each one, I'd say your chances are good. ;-)

Key is to make a list of spam-comments, then let them know, or at least that's how it worked in the past. IIRC, last time I reported wishlist spam was something like 3yrs ago, and GOG Support was pretty nice about it; sent me a thank you email and cleaned it up in a timely manner.

You can tell I gave up, a bit of too much hassle for both sides.

Ah shit I remember: Macready. Best part is I played a mafia game with The Thing as the theme and I was Macready, and I was a combination roleblocker-neighborizer, and I also got to light up the first two Things we got, then people got stupid and turned on me. I actually caught on to the one who ended up clinching the game for the scumteam, then I got so much blowback I backed off.
Drealmerz was there with me, yaknow.
