Just wanted to drop by here to let you know it's not phishing or any scam. The email was sent by GOG, and we are asking users to update their GOG GALAXY application to the latest version (there is a bug in the previous version that prevents users to update the app in the future).

You can download the latest version of the app from www.gogalaxy.com or from www.gog.com/galaxy - they both are owned by GOG.

Thanks and sorry for confusing y'all! Stay safe!

Thanks for clearing this up.
Bug that prevents upgrading?

Did it work?

Guter: I repeat: I don't use, and have never used Galaxy 2.0
So? GOG doesn't have any way of knowing that. All they know is that you're a GOG customer, and presumably most customers do use Galaxy.

Bug...or feature?

eric5h5: Bug...or feature?
Or added feature? I'm curious if none of them have checked the 2.0 forums lately.

So? They can message that via the client, like steam does, uplay does, origin does, epic does?!

some people would probably see that as a form of DRM if you need to be logged into the client for messages.
Not here, because it's an update for client users. They already decided to use it.

Really, you want GOG collecting customer information like that? Not going to fly here. Steam etc. are also not a valid comparison considering they have no alternative way of acquiring games aside from running the client.
No, they should use the client.

whoa I didn't realize you still worked at GOG :p
I didn't get the letter.
I have Galaxy 2.0 Beta installed on my PC with some games installed but with all tracking disabled. Also I'm not subscribed to news / promo letters.

The day when Galaxy will stop work under Windows 7 will be a sad one. Unless MS releases Windows 11 with *human* interface and without "ads" in every hole. Good Windows so for me are: Win 3.1/95/98/XP/7.
Good thing I checked the forums. I literally thought it was a phishing email because it definitely felt like one.
