Mr. D™: There has been some skepticism around Star Citizen lately, but I hope it will turn out well for Roberts, he had to endure a lot of shit and also chose a stony path in parts of his life.
avatar
Breja: Well, we had to endure the Wing Commander movie he made, so it all evens out ;)
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who enjoyed that film :P

YaTEdiGo: The series is a total plot crap, never spoiled by a black vulvan, but yes, spoiled by so many stupid things. Ancient tribes had religions, Chakotay has a religion, saying that indian american believes are just spirituality is pretty romantic, and definitively influenced by the religions that conside themselves "serious" vs "minor religions",
avatar
Breja: I'm not talking about indian american beliefs, I'm talking about Chakotay and his beliefs. You should watch the episode Barge of the Dead to understand maybe. He says "My grandfather used to think he could transform himself into a wolf so that he could venture out to explore the spirit realm. It was real to him, as real as what your experience was to you, but that doesn't mean he grew hair all over his body and walked around on all fours." He believes in the meaningfull nature of symbols, even the importance of experiencing a vision but that does not mean he believes in the supernatural, worships some diety, or follows any religious dogma.

As for the rest, I simply don't agree with you, and there is little to discuss, as all you keep saying is calling it crap, and repeating how much you hate the characters. Not much to say other than I think you are wrong. Whatever. Your loss. seasons 4-5 are full of great episodes- Scorpion, Raven, Mortal Coil, Prey, Living Witness, Drone, TImeless, Infinite Regress, Nothing Human, Latent Image, Course: Oblivion, just to name some of the very best, and season 6 starts very strong with Equinox and Barge of the Dead. All great sci fi, great tv. Was the entire series like that, every episode? No. Of course not. But it's still a good show overall. You disagree, you hate it... fine. That's fine too. It wan't diminish the fun I'm having watching it, so too each his own.
Sure, the pope will also tell you about many allegories that he consider are "fantasies" to explain the great truth of God, and he is still a believer. That episode with Chakotay making rituals is plain ridiculous.

Yeah but do not pretend to explain me "see this episode or this other one" because I seen the whole crap from the beginning to the end, because I am a Trekkie, and not because I am a Trekkie I need to like all the franchise, (I believe STARTREK V is one of the worst movies ever made) . The best example for the awfulness of VOYAGER is ENTERPRISE failure, as contrary as many said, the show didn´t failed by itself, it was actually VOYAGER the main reason the franchise was almost doomed, as some critics point, the moment ENTERPRISE came out was a new nice reboot of the series, but the bad mouth taste of VOYAGER was a very loooooong shadow in the franchise that affected ENTERPRISE initial boost, plus also of course the difficulty of being something new, just the pitiful episode for closing the series with TNG guys was much better than the whole 7 seasons of Voyager. And I totally agree with this impressions.

I really wish the best for him and his project and the teams working on it. But I`m really not sure if it will be the big shot in scifi games everyone is hoping for. Time will show us.
I agree with all this point by point.

You lucky bastard
Seconding SOMA.
I don't care for horror games but I may just have to purchase it myself. It looks really good.
Sean Murray from Hello Games presents on the Late Show No Man`s Sky

Honestly I`m impressed so far with Colberts wide arrange of Guests. I always liked Colbert and how he like John Oliver and Stewart, hopefully Noah confronts bullshit in his own way. But this... I have even more sympathy for Colbert. And the humble and quirky Sean Murray somehow manages to not become a prick despite all the media attention.

He presented the concept in such an appealing way. I got curious once again. And the very concept of the game. It reminds in parts of Journey (which I love would to play, fuck Sony give it to the PC community finally)

Mr. D™: I love Sci-Fi. I really do. Listened to Star Wars and Perry Rhodan on tape at the age of 5 even before I saw the movies. Started to read small Sci-Fi novels at the age of 7. Watched Space 2063, Babylon 5, Star Trek, Firefly and what so not.
SciFi games will always be something very special for me. Wing Commander, Jupiter Nexus Incident, Space Quest 4, Master of Orion 2, Descent Freespace 1+2, Homeworld, U.F.O., Schleichfahrt etc etc

But in the last time more and more games are released that are basically a multiplayermode sold for 50 or 60 bucks like Destiny and Titanfall, or some kind of platform to sell overprized DLC like Dead Space 3 or Evolve or worse.

The companies claim that attaching a single player campaign is not worth it, because most gamers won`t play it anyways. IMHO that`s bullshit and just a form of justification to significantly cut down content and production time and costs.
But I will not buy Titanfall, Evolve or the new Elite. Fuck those companies. Fuck their business model. And fuck their C.E.O.`s

Sigh.

Just waiting for the next decent SciFi game.
Considering your dislike for multiplayer I assume you might not have took a closer look at Star Trek Online. No, please. Do not facepalm & curse just yet ;)

Its F2P with Macrotransaction in-game store but nothing of the core game is behind a paywall. So all storylines & missions (which in a lot of cases are far above MMO standart) are free; same goes for lots of customization. The storylines are all optimized for soloplay; Group missions are entered on a seperate window in game; so you wont have the WoW phenoma of playing trough some questlines and at the and get told to raid for the conclusion.

Customizations is deep enough to set it up for "nobody bothers me" mode; which also includes turning off add-like rollovers of player "XYZ has won super rare stuff".

You can now start cursing & facepalming :)
Maybe you remember my "Is there an MMO that does not suck?" post.

I`ve played STO for 200-300 hours and the spacefight is fun but very grindy and gets pretty quickly dull & tedious.

Spacemissions are not bad but most of the time not that interesting and the planetmissions are abyssal.
And I never spent a single buck on the game. 20 bucks for a single shipskin? Wait yeah I`ll just bend over here... or not.

Overall the game is not appealing for me, has not much to do with the Star Trek I know and love. Everything is war. Like in SWTOR everything is war. Like in Destiny everything is war. Like in Warframe everything is war. It`s tedious, it is boring and it blunts you.

No, thanks.

No, but then again I don't even remember what I ate 3 days ago :P

And I agree, nothing but kill this, kill that gets tiresome quickly. Still remember when I quitted SWTor after I dozed off in a mission (in the middle of the day, sober & with full nights sleep).
This casting news is really the first thing that made me at all excited about Star Citizen. Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, John Rhys-Davis, Mark Strong - damn, that's a fine cast. It's just a pity they're not doing FMV like in Wing Commander. Seeing CGI versions of those actors isn't nearly as fun as watching the real deal, an with the kind of money SC has, I'm sure they could have made it happen.

Still, I guess I shouldn't get to excited about SC in any case - I suck at flight sims so bad I'll probably never make it past the tutorial.

Thanks for sharing. I was once pretty good, but that was a long time ago:)
I think Rebel Galaxy could be the game I was waiting for. Seems something like Mount & Blade meets Firefly. Looks promising. Reminds me also of Starwolves, only better.

Quasebarth: One of the good things with the high attention Star Citizen got back on science fiction space games is that there are hopefully a lot of follow-up titles revitalising the genre.

Like this recently founded very promising Kickstarter title (GOG release highly likely in the future): Everspace
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rockfishgames/everspace/

It looks and sounds absolutely awesome. Single player story driven space fighter action. I wish them success for the development and look forward when the game comes to GOG.

By the way, why is Galaxy on Fire not on GOG?
I would love to see GoF on GoG as well. I checked it out at one point, but I wasn't going to get it on Steam or my phone. From what I understand, it is pretty much very similar to Freelancer. I have three copies of FL because I've played it so much that my original copy I got in 2003 I'm afraid will get damaged and I found it on Amazon for $10. It is one of, if not the, favorite space games of all time. I would love to see many of the space games that are on Steam on GoG since I won't support Steam.
