Aeshma turns and smiles pleasantly at the dwarf, D'Amato. "I'm not sure if the island will be staying in one place for long or traveling the seas, but there are barns and several buildings here to be renovated and the pier to be rebuilt. You'll have to get permission from Kyp, the half-mer, if you want to set up a permanent workshop though and he'll have ask the dragon turtle whose back we are on. After all, she is Kyp's friend and this is now his home."
She turns back to Count Karnstein. "Durik left to see his mother and Mighty is organizing the storing of our supplies until the Ship returns. I'll see if the cannibals can take you." She glances up, "Oh, never mind. It looks like you are being summoned."
Looking over his shoulder, Count Karnstein sees a longboat heading for the broken pier with one of Captain Jac's officers directing some of her crew who are rowing it. When they arrive, the officer greets the Count with proper respect and informs him his presence has been requested as a captain of the remaining Crew. On the way to Captain Jac's ship the officer quietly briefs the Count that while Captain Jac is supposed to accede to the High Council's laws under the Brethren treaty with them, the Ship's Crew are not part of that treaty and are not required to give in to their demands, no matter what the Council's representative tries to tell him. From the way the officer talks, it is apparent to the Count that these High Council people are obnoxious and arrogant. He's dealt with such self-important snobs before. At least he will arrive escorted as a proper captain should, not rowed by a lone dwarf.
As he arrives on her ship, Captain Jac speaks loudly enough for the Count to hear. "We had no knowledge of what Devin of Moonsea and Cap'n Rummyfangs intended. You already know Devin's reputation. You want him, take it up with his goddess! As far as we knew, the Ship was supposed to be hauled ashore for hull repairs, overseen by the master carpenter and shipwright Count Karnstein was bringing. The Crew was put ashore for that reason. As you saw yourself, Count Karnstein just arrived and had nothing to do with it. He is a certified captain of the Crew, so you are required to deal with him in the absence of the Admiral or Captain Aylar on all matters concerning any dealings with the Crew." She turned and nodded to the Count, as a captain to a fellow captain. "Count Karnstein, this is Council Mage Envoy Harn. Council Envoy, may I introduce Count Karnstein."
The tall platinum haired High Elf dressed in fancy silken robes carried no obvious weapons, but Captain Jac had clued the Count in that this was a possibly high-level mage. The envoy turned to Count Karnstein with a cool sneer, his voice full of disdain. "Count Karnstein, you and the Crew will immediately submit yourselves to Council jurisdiction and prepare to be taken aboard my ship. There you will each acquiesce to questioning about your previous activities, the disappearance of your admiral, the departure of the Ship and the whereabouts and intentions of your missing Captain Aylar." The envoy looked down his long thin nose at Karnstein like he was a mere servant beneath his notice who he expected to bow, kiss his robes and leap to obey his every whim.
