I had no idea there was a remaster of D/Generation. I used to play that one a lot back in the day.

toxicTom: I'm torn on this one... The "always on" torch kills a lot of atmosphere - on the other hand in most sections this really improves gameplay. I've never finished the original game (always got bored out my mind, once as late as Excavation Site).
I've actually finished BFG Edition a while ago - it simply plays more fluently.
The gameplay in it's core was nothing stellar even back then. It is completely about the atmosphere. And if the BFG only added the always on flashlight, it might have been bearable, but they went on and lit up in their opinion "too dark" areas, added ammo, enemies and basically tried to make it more into a fast paced FPS rather than horror experience. They failed at creating a game that could live up to the originals in Doom 3 but at least they made a unique, atmospheric semi-horror game which I still fondly remember when I first played it many years ago. Doom 3 BFG is just generic and mediocre.

idbeholdME: AvP Classic 2000 - didn't experience it but read that some things don't work in the Classic edition and they changed some voice acting and stuff

rjbuffchix: If I recall correctly, wasn't there originally LAN multiplayer that was removed to make way for the completely harmless, totally no big deal Galaxy? I am really interested in this game but want LAN option.
Don't know unfortunately. I never played the original. Just read up on some of the differences between the two. Could check when I get home wether there is LAN option.
Here's one. (For purposes of this post, pretend that the recent Bard's Tale remaster doesn't exist.)

Bard's Tale 3: The Apple 2 and Commodore 64 versions came out first, and were good. Then the DOS and Amiga versions came out, and were bad; they had tons of bugs the resulted in things like dragons not breathing fire, slayers not critically hitting, the stoneblade not working, Kael's Overture improving your AC (which it's not supposed to), outdoor dungeons being pitch black without a light, Second Signt not revealing much, and many other bugs (even one that, apparently, can overflow an array and crash the game (arbitrary code execution possible?).

So, in this case, the older 8-bit versions are far preferable to the "newer" 16-bit versions.

Let's hope the remaster will be better than the 16-bit versions.
I don't see anyone mentioning earth 2140 which i am currently playing much.
The earth 2140 dos version which is found in the goodies on gog has enhanced a.i. while the windows version a.i. is crippled since they don't build units or buildings when destroyed or even attack you. Only when you find them they only defend themselfs they won't search for your base or the general options also don't work in the windows version where you can set your marked units to attack so they keep serching and attacking, or defend.
Though i heard that the dos version isn't running as clean as supposed to and there is no way to set resolution.
Really have no info about when the dos version and windows version came out.
Oh yeah one annoying part of running the game in dosbox is that it needs to be run several times until a succesfull run and then you can play it..

This reminds me of Wizardry 7, where the DOS version found in the goodies is generally preferred over the Windows version, because the Windows version has some annoying bugs, like one that makes the Diplomacy skill non-functional.

(By the way, the goodies for Wizardry 6 + 7 also include an arranged soundtrack that's actually based on the Japan-only Super Famicom version of Wizardry 6.)

The BT1 remaster is awesome so far. The visuals seem to adhere to the Amiga version. But BT1 is a pretty simple game, whereas BT3 is really massive... Let's hope for the best.
Did anyone mention Baldur's Gate EEs? :)
I would be happy to not ever Return to Wonder Boy's remake.

I know it was already brought up but I want to remention Doom 3 as I don't think people mentioned this issue in the BFG Edition...

So... BFG Edition includes a short new add on called the Lost Mission. It is kind of like Blue Shift for Half-Life. One of the changes in Lost Mission is that every ammo pickup you collect is significantly more than the standard Doom 3 or it's expansion to give this mini expansion more of a focus on action. The problem? They didn't bother setting standard ammo pick up amounts for the base game and Resurrection of Evil so you are swimming in ammo in the base games.

Also, haven't played it, but I've heard the Silent Hill collection is an affront to fans.
1. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced
2. Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced

Why not?
Rainbow Six Ravenshield had an older version with a subtle but important difference between patches.
It meant you had to put more thought into equipping items regarding silenced guns.
I guess MMORPGs are the big one, like Star Wars Galaxies before Sony tried to turn it into WoW.
