I just realized that the timing of Gog summer sales is beneficial to them as it beats the upcoming steam sales starting June 23.

People who spent money buying games on Gog sales won't have any money left to spend on steam sales.
So steam will loose a lot of money due to competition from gog.

Early bird, got the prize and people's money.
Well played Gog, well played.

Also the fact that steam summer sale date was leaked proved to be advantageous for gog.

You must be new here. This has been the case for a few years, both for summer and winter sales.
And it won't make a lick of difference in any respect

Not with regard to Steam's profit, but I'm sure it's quite beneficial for GOG.

Actually I think Steam made all the moves which allowed GOG to beat them :P
Absolutely, in a game of chess you can never let your opponent see your pieces

I let my opponent see all my pieces once.

That's why I'm no longer allowed in Central Park.

For not having a CCW permit?

Dang, that doesn't really work does it? Sounds more like a compliment :-\
I am of the opinion that Steam probably don't really give a fuck ...
I'll echo others here and say this is always the case. In the case of Christmas Sales it's almost funny how early they begin to beat Steam's.
