It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Could it be possible to show a version number or the upload date of games/extras I want to download. Currently I have no idea whether the version I have already downloaded is the latest one.
I could once in a while (re)download all my games, but doing this just to see if my downloads are up to date seems a waste of my time and GOG's server capacity.
Great idea. I'd also like that.
But please post it in this thread (if I'm not entirely mistaken).
Could be a nice feature.
There's an announcement when anything gets an update. (edit: Actually there is none, I stand corrected)
Easiest short term solution: Check the news page every so often, or subscribe to the news rss feed on your client of choice, speed read through the headings to check.

This would be especially useful if the download file names are numbered also. That way you can compare the latest ones to what you've got.

not true, there have been no updates for games that have been patched. Just for when additional materials are added.

I wasn't aware of that, thought both were.
Ah well, better informed now, Cheers!

renew, that is an excellent idea and one that I think would benefit the entire community.

Not not true, or at least not always. There have been announcements of updated install packages, but they are usually only made in the respective game's forum. For example:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/septerra_core_legacy_of_the_creator/_amp_quot_dialogue_skips_under_vista_amp_quot_problem_solved
These announcements have not been made consistently, so you can't really count on them as a way to track installer versions.
Sorry for "necroing" this thread, but the issue still stands and I don't want to make an entirely new thread about it. Can we please get this implemented? The game's actual version number is *far* more useful information than the installer's version number. Also, there's a petition for this now: http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/site/add_version_number_to_gog_releases_eg_earth_2140_release_12

Indeed and preferably the entire number, not just the first three numbers or whatever it is.
Perhaps it is with specific games, but I am just downloading Chronicles of riddick and it has it as "setup_chronicles_of_riddick_1.0.0.8" I am assuming that is the version number?

The setup filename (and the download page) shows the GOG installer version, not the game version. The latter is what people are asking about, the former doesn't say anything about the game, just that GOG have done something with the installer (removed an extraneous file, updated the installer script, fixed Game Explorer integration, applied better compression, or even updated the game to a newer version... anything that would require a rebuild of the installer really).

Very good idea please make that a wish if it isn't already one.
This gets me confused every time. The version in the file name does not match the version in my library and I sometimes end up re-downloading just to be sure to have the latest version of the patch (although it is possible to manually start the download to see the file name in the browsers download manager).

What's up with that? Not a deal breaker, but quite annoying.
holy necro version number man !
