Dark_Odyssey1: For those who print covers for all their games, how much is this costing in terms of ink/laser toner spent? I haven't really tried yet so I wonder how much ink/laser toner it eats up.
I have a Brother printer (MFC-J4535DW) which I got in a major sale. The official cartridges for high capacity ink can go up to $80 - $100 each. I found a local place that sells a 3rd party brand that has all 3 colours and Black high Capacity for $20 total.

So if you do a little searching it is possible to get a decent printer and a deal (steal) on ink.

I've recently got an Epson "EcoTank" ET-8500 multi-function printer, which employs individual ink tanks in place of cartridges. I think I will need to print thousands of pages before worrying about ink refills, which don't cost that much anyway.

Funny thing is, I purchased this kind of printer because I had in mind some specific use cases like printing custom, high-quality covers for the games I bought on GOG and/or Steam :-D

Don't forget the paper; go for glossy photo paper for the best image quality and try to get as stiff a paper as your printer can tolerate (it prevents smudging). I use an index stock paper with a 176 GSM (Grams per Square Meter) for my prints. (The package also lists it as being a 65 lb weight.) I would love to use an 200 GSM paper but my printer (an older Canon inkjet) jams with paper that stiff (let alone the 216 stock). It is expensive when compared to standard paper (~3-5X as much) but I think it's worth it.

Amazon carries all of these paper types as do photocopy and some office shops.

Nah, I prefer semi-gloss. Matte photo paper can provide extremely nice to perfect results as well. I already got a whole collection of all the paper types I need (mostly Epson branded) after studying the matter for months :-D
