The covers were originally designed for the "Standard" DVD cases with the clear plastic outer layer. The issue was/is that the exact dimensions can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. There is a small grey band at the top and bottom of most covers to allow for trim-to-fit situations. The posted cover dimensions are smaller than is required so you would need to find the printing instructions as you need to enlarge the cover image during the printing process.

Here is a link to my very, very, very outdated printing instructions which may give you a good starting point.

Here is a link to the old cases which I do not post a a recommendation but only as an example. There are other brands at the bottom of the page as well.

I stopped storing my games on DVD's several years ago and recommend you get a good external hard drive for that purpose also. I just save the covers with my game files as a way to remember the original game box cover. I try to stay as close as possible to the original cover but that's not always possible.

Hope this helps??

Hello. Since users are complaining about lack of DVD covers for games bought on GOG.com, I decided to create some. It takes some time to make one, so expect more later.
Hope you'll like them. Feel free to post comments and suggestions.

HOW TO PRINT
Here you'll find out how to print these DVD covers using Microsoft Paint.

a) LETTER size paper
Open the program and load up your cover file (PNG). Go to File -> Page Setup. Make sure that the paper size is set to Letter. Change the orientation to "Landscape", change left and right margins to 4 millimeters (0,15 inches), change top and bottom margins to 17,5 millimeters (0,68 inches), change scaling to "Fix to: 1 by 1 page(s)" and press OK. You can now print the cover.

b) A4 size paper
Open the program and load up your cover file (PNG). Go to File -> Page Setup. Make sure that the paper size is set to A4. Change the orientation to "Landscape", change all margins to 13 millimeters (0,51 inches), change scaling to "Fix to: 1 by 1 page(s)" and press OK. You can now print the cover.

Remember that the best quality can only be obtained using special paper.

Hideko1994: is there a new updated list?
Since ALL links in the above post lead to the ImageShack site your best bet would be the GOG Covers site. (Thiev stopped maintaining that list several years ago BTW.)

GOG Covers - http://www.gogcovers.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

For about ten years the best image site for me has been CubeUpload https://cubeupload.com/

Just saying . . .

Edit: Link to the old DVD cover list - https://www.gog.com/forum/general_archive/unofficial_dvd_covers_list
They were moved to Google docs but I don't have that link now

I know the title says "Unofficial DVD Covers" but has anyone considered making CD Jewel Case inserts?

I like the idea of big decorative DVDs of my favourite games on my shelf, but there are also a fair number of games I just want backups of but don't really need them to take up a lot of shelf space, but I would still like them to be presentable on my shelf.

maddNeal: . . .
Speaking only for myself I lost count of the covers I've made at a little over 1,300. With time being an issue . . . going back an remaking a CD version of each is not something I would look forward to. I try to keep the exact original cover image editing only the stickers and logos for the developer/distributor due to one or both changing over the years since the current GOG release. I can then replace those logos, add GOG's, with the current dev/dist logos. I considered keeping the original dev/dist logos but felt that was not fair to the devs/dist releasing games on GOG today. Since the CD covers are smaller that would mean editing a larger area of the finished image which can be very noticeable depending on the original image quality. Finding high quality images can be difficult even for newer games.

I did make one CD cover on request and found it difficult to add much info to the cover due to the small size. I ended up just using the original front and back cover image which meant double the image editing/repair. I appreciate your desire to have CD covers but I myself cannot commit to making new/old CD covers. Sorry.

With external storage being very affordable I would suggest you get a good quality external for your actual backups. That's just my way of backing up my games for some time and no dis on using CD/DVD's if that is your preference. I store game covers with my game files just to have game info and an image of the front covers I spent so much time looking at back in the day.

Other folks may be willing to take on the challenge. =)
