ysvry: thats not the problem, the game downloaded ok and even runs but its in spanish!, I assumed it would be english later i found a language selector on the download page. So now i want to uninstall the spanish version and reinstall the english. but neither does work. I think its due to some stuff being left in this temp directory so where is it so i can check it out?

Grargar: What you do you mean that the uninstaller doesn't work? You execute the shortcut, but it doesn't run? Did you try running the uninstaller executable directly from the game's installation folder?
when i run the uninstaller , unins000.exe, as admin , i get error windows cant find path folder or file.

clearly the game installer checks up with some files in a cetain dir , where is that dir located at a gog server?
I find it odd that even as admin i have no rights to that folder???

0Grapher: I don't know if this is similar on Windows. On Linux I have to give the permission to execute the file to myself after downloading to a temporary folder.
Have you tried executing the installer as an administrator?
first thing i tried offcourse ;)

From what I recall, it shouldn't. Let me download the spanish version and check.

Hmmm... have you tried installing and uninstalling another game (like one of the free ones) and seeing whether it acts the same way as Commandos does?

In snowkatt's defense, there have lately been about a bazillion threads in the General Discussion Forum, by people asking questions about The Witcher 3 without ever saying what game they were talking about.

Game installed and uninstalled without a hitch. Spanish version, uninstall executed from installation folder. Galaxy not involved in any step.

What antivirus are you running?

It may be to the point, as AV can sometimes interfere with installation/uninstallation.
Have you tried uninstalling using Windows Add/Remove programs instead of directly running the uninstaller executable? I believe that executable is a generic uninstaller that needs to read from a script of some kind to perform the uninstall, which it will do from Add/Remove programs.

So did you first install the Spanish version, then installed the English version on top of it (in the same directory), without uninstalling the Spanish version first? I'm not a doctor or anything, but I'd suggest you should not install different language versions on top of each other.

When you contact GOG support, I propose you explain very clearly and in a very detailed manner, what steps exactly you have done so far, and what exact error messages you receive at which points.

I've installed and uninstalled lots of GOG games numerous times (with the installers, not using GOG Galaxy), and the only problems I recall facing:

1. I tried to install a game whose installer was corrupted (the .bin file). Since it was a smaller game, it didn't automatically perform the integrity check before installation. like the bigger games with several .bin installer files do. I ended up with a partial installation that couldn't be uninstalled. I fixed it by redownloading the game installer, and installing it on top of the partial installation. Then I was able to uninstall it too.

2. A couple of times I've done an user error. I wanted to transfer the game from one PC to another, so I figured the most foolproof method (save games, game profiles, settings etc.) is that I install a fresh game on the other PC, and then just copy all the game files from the first PC on top of that installation.

What I didn't take into account was that on the first PC I had installed the game on a different drive and/or directory than on the second one. Uninstallation failed at that point because on the new PC the uninstall script was apparently looking for the game or uninstaller tool on the wrong location (the place where the game was in the first PC).

I don't recall how I fixed it. Maybe I just deleted the install game directory and then reinstalled the game from scratch to the same directory.
