DiffuseReflection: Why was this announcement made only now, so close to the removal date?
Par for the course with most recent game delistings....the ip holder requests it and GOG has to comply asap. Well, a small silver lining: at least it happened when the games in question are on sale....so people can grab a copy at a decent price(for themselves or as a gift).
I hope this doesn't mean that other EA games will start disappearing from here... Anyway thanks for the info.

Swedrami: Which makes me wonder if the delisting could be happening out of pure spite.
Well fronzel (post 20) said GOG turned down the new UW game, so that might be partly why EA is removing the games. Sucks, if true. :\

vorob: Maybe EA sold their rights to someone else and soon it will reappear from new publisher? Maybe NightDive acquired them?)
Tbh I have mixed feelings if that's the case. I would LOVE for the games to come back to GOG, but I wouldn't like it so much to be at 2-3x the price(this makes it harder for poorer gamers to buy them) and with the older versions removed(like in the case of Shadow Man).

GamezRanker: If you haven't purchased it by the time of delisting & still really want it(as in you'll probably likely play it at some point), then make sure to hit me up(PM or forum reply) sometime after the delisting & i'll see what I can do. :)

Ah thanks.
I am gonna try buying a paysafecard tomorrow, i am only missing like 5 cents i think.
Today i can't buy it since it's a country holiday and i won't go to a gas station.
I think the game will still be discounted tomorrow.

Yeah, they should all be here and on sale until the 28th, so you should be fine.

Unrelated sidenote/musing: stupid forum software keeps eating replies when I make multiple replies. o.0
Sad :( I hope they come back!

Just for the sake of clarity: EA had - to my knowledge - nothing whatsoever to do with Underworld Ascendant and I was more of less joking when I said gog had to pull the original games because they rejected Ascendant. I don't think the makers of Ascendant have that kind of clout.

EA licensed the use of the Avatar name and character to Otherside Entertainment and other characters associated with Ultima Underworld (Cabirus) as well as the setting of the Stygian Abyss for the game Underworld Ascendant.

Just not the name Ultima, but the game it self takes place in the same world. That is the extent of their involvement as far as I know.

Still, no matter what caused it, losing more classic games(even temporarily) isn't much of a good thing. :|

To cheer everyone up:
EA deciding to delist 3 games from GOG
(starring EA as Peter, various goggers/gamers as Brian and Lois, and various future social media posts as the coxswain)

why are things like this not posted as news? surely at least as important as a random game 'coming soon' and definitely more newsworthy than some random trivia about a random game.

Well at least it's not like in the past...back then we didn't even get stickies.

That said, a nice news thread would be nice(though i'm guessing the ip holders probably wouldn't allow it).
This is very sad news. These are all classic games that deserve to be on GOG.

EA sadly seem to be living up to their reputation of caring very little for their customer base or the preservation of their older games. I think I'm done buying from them at this point. (Not that it will make much difference, since I'm not even vaguely interested in any of their recent games)
Even though Syndicate from 2012 isn't the greatest, I'd love for it to show up here so I don't have to use Origin to play it. Would have to include the stuff from the Executive Package and the EA Gun Club, though.
i guess fuck EA.

short assed reviews of going to be delisted games:

UW 1 and 2: had great fun with them back in the DOS era, even though i only had PC Speaker sound. tried to replay them in Win98 era, with a sound chip that could pretend to be Adlib, but the magic is lost. i still remembered my way around the dungeons and start piling up lots of loot without progressing the plot. then i gave up. it's just not really replayable when the sense of exploration is lost. sad

Syndicate Plus: have this on CD too. fun murdery megacorp RTS game. very easy to "cheese" it by just waiting for research and money to flow in. American Revolt add-on is ass. it just too insanely difficult. i doubt even pro Starcraft 2 gamers can beat this addon.

Syndicate Wars: never got about playing it. only heard it was meh compared to the OG. and it is early 3D graphics.

I get the "EA is evil" takes, but I doubt they'd remove these now just for petty shits and giggles. They probably sold the IPs to some Chinese company to make phone games from, or there is some weird legal issue we don't know about.
