DoomSooth: Why didn't they tell us that Secret Agent was going to be removed? It was removed, yesterday.
I would not have noticed. Thx for the info. Weird removal, considering that it is still up on Steam. Any official info from GOG staff would be appreciated. Cheers

aluinie: Oh for F**K sake why the hell would EA want them delisted unless its the start of making them origin exclusive.
Either that, or there are 'remasters' coming and they don't want competition from their own, superior originals. As usual.

:( :( :(

I was telling someone a few days ago ITT that IP holders can do just that, if they so choose.....was hoping none of them would actually do so(as most allow GOG to at least make a delisting sticky beforehand), though.

Spectrum_Legacy: I found it quite a stretch, because I have trouble imagining with a straight face how EA whispers to GoG's ear: "You can disclose this delisting, but only a little! Obfuscate - do your worst.".

Isn't that more NightDive's thing? ;)
(seeing as they often either lock the old versions behind the new ones or[like with Shadow Man] remove 'em entirely)

Nightdive, Beamdog, Paradox, ... Is there really any difference? And do you really expect one of the bad guys of the industry, EA, to behave any better than the other bad apples?

ND at least is a bit more fair than the other two(not so many DLCs, slightly better prices usually, etc). That said, ND is seemingly starting to become a bit more corporate like all the rest.

I expect them to behave WORSE, actually.
(like say locking the games behind a DRMd client or into their "vaults" for good)
Ahhh forgot to get these. I wonder how the gameplay holds up 30 years on though
By my estimates, as many as 131 games were wiped out from GOG and never returned, representing about 4% of the unique titles on the platform. It does indeed seem like a pretty high percentage, not least because many of the removed titles remain for sale on Steam.

And what's your point exactly this time around? Clearly not some funky theory-crafting like EA going an extra mile to explicitly prevent GOG to disclose that delisting everywhere but on their forums, where it was ok.

That part "You can disclose this delisting, but only a little!" was a joke - or so I thought it was obvious at least. Must have missed its mark. It's an event with binary outcome, either the delisting is disclosed (and thus becomes public knowledge) or it isn't disclosed (for various reasons like nda, carelessness/negligence, etc).

This is all common knowledge as I said twice, or at least I consider it so. We went full circle btw, you can go back to reread post144 and our conversation loops forever in a strange way. We are not on the same page I reckon.

Might be good to contact 3D Realms in this case since they are the publisher for it.

From your earlier posts it seemed you didn't believe companies would/could use contracts/etc to prevent companies like GOG from pre-announcing delistings, so I was quoting you along with that other user's post to show proof of such being possible(and in that case, happening).

Now, let's think for a moment: if a partner can stop a delisting announcement entirely, then they can obviously also limit when/where/how any allowed announcements are done as well.

Anyways, it's a sad day for GOG: losing 5 classic games in a short period. :|

Another announcement that I've only seen after it was unstickied. Luckily I have all of these already.

To be fair, Nightdive's remasters are often objective improvement, at least in my opinion.
Beamdog's on the other hand...
I am beating a dead horse, aren't I?

Nope. A dead dog.
