Well for those who came late to the party, I found a certain website where GOG keys for Ultima Underworld 1+2 and Syndicate Plus are currently being sold at under $4 USD each. I'm not going to name the website in this post because there might be restrictions on what kinds of sites I'm allowed to link to, but try Googling around or checking a site like gg.deals. It looks like Syndicate Wars was previously listed on the site I'm looking at but it's now sold out, however there may be similar sites where keys are still available.

I can't vouch for whether these particular keys are authentic, but from personal experience they do tend to be reliable if you stick to the right vendors. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the price rises real soon or they quickly run out of their remaining stock.

Edit: I found another website selling a bunch of GOG keys for these games (at slightly higher prices), and it appears that they still have Syndicate Wars in stock too. So it looks like those who missed out aren't completely out of luck if they know where to look and are willing to spend perhaps a few bucks more than what they would have paid during the GOG sales.

Grargar: A final salute to Syndicate Wars as cruel EA condemns it to Abandonware Hell.
A small silver lining: a bit less money will go into EA's pockets from now on.

DD & Ji Ji: Forgot to buy Syndicate Wars . =(
I'm guessing some bought gift copies to hand out.

My advice? Those who missed out should perhaps check the GOG giveaway and other such threads every now and then.

Exactly!
I admit I'm a bit of an hypocrite, since I've bought all of EA's catalogue on GOG (as a way to show them that there was a market for more of their games here).

But if their intention is to remove more games from here - and since I never bought a game on any other store (besides itch.io) - there's no way EA is gonna see another dime from me.

What if they released all the games they own on GOG for 1 dollar each? ;)

Only if they included Ultima Underworld 1 again (yep, it's my favorite RPG) :)

Well I did say all. :)
(speaking of, did you manage to score a copy of Ultima UW 1+2 for yourself during the sale? just curious)

Nice....one of my fave series is the classic Exile(avernum precursor) series of games....with Exile 3 & Blade of Exile being two of my favorites of that series.

Btw: ever play Arx Fatalis? It has a similar theme/etc(stuck underground with a bunch of races of beings in various settlements/dungeons).

Yes, I have the Ultima Underworlds in my library for many years now. I think it was one of the first EA games I purchased, when they reached GOG in 2011.

And I also have Arx Fatalis. A great, great RPG indeed. It was indeed intended to be Ultima Underworld 3, but the EA(ssholes) refused to grant the license.

You have some nice tastes in RPG. I still remember playing Blades of Exile, which a friend gave to me on a floppy disk. But I didn't get to play much. In fact I only finished Avernum: Escape from the Pit, which is the remake of a remake of the first Exile :P
Old Origin games are better off in the hands of Night Dive Studios. Won't be holding my breath on remasters any time soon though.

Nice :)

As for me: some of my first purchases were the (classic) Divinity series, bought years and years back(maybe 2010 or so).

An interesting bit of trivia which I did not know...thanks for that.

Due to various IRL issues(PC failures, data loss, procrastination, etc) I only finished the first campaign of Blades and Exile 3....though I played(and enjoyed) a good bit of all of the Exile games over the years.

(I even had some emails saved long ago from Jeff Vogel, from when I purchased Exile 3 from his site long ago....such fun/fond memories)

Why? So they can tweak the graphics and hud a bit, and charge 2-3x the price?

Of course, don't get me wrong: they have done some good on occasion....it just seems they are getting more corporate(like GOG) as the years go on(like when they remastered Shadow Man for 2-3x the price, and also didn't include the old version as an extra).

Time to rectify this and get Dungeon master 1 and 2 here!

Ancient-Red-Dragon: This thread certainly doesn't qualify as 'notice,' since GOG made it a Sticky whilst the games were still listed, and thus rendered it invisible to most forum viewers.
It's very rare other stores give any notice at all. GOG told us days in advance, and news sites reported it. Yet people still complain, because it's the internet.
I was on the fence with Syndicate games for some time. I decided to nab last weeken now (especially with a sale) before I regret it.

And then they un-Sticky it and thus make it visible only after the games have been de-listed.

That is more like an anti-notice on GOG's part.

They really need to abolish their horrible new policy of Sticky-ing de-listing (anti-)'notices.'
they started making these threads stick, as people where complaining that they quickly disapeared from the first page, so they did not notice them.

damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Why didn't they tell us that Secret Agent was going to be removed? It was removed, yesterday.

Thanks for the update. This just shows why the DRM-free fight is such an important mission.
