Kengy: People should think that other peope isn't so lucky than them, as I think than other ppl isn't so lucky as me.
Well said....not everyone has the same budget for entertainment. That is one of the reasons, btw, that I somewhat "worry" when remasters/remakes come to GOG...as the prices are usually 2-3x the original price(which makes it harder for those less well off to buy them).

avatar
Kengy: 1. I have no job since years ago, i can spend only 5€ each month in games.

2. My wishlist is giant. These games haven't never been in my wishlist because RPG isn't my favourite genre and I have never played Syndicate games.

3. As you told, they are classics games and I would like to play them anytime in the future.

4. If GOG don't inform that they will be delisted from their catalog, I would missed to buy those games.
As to number 1: that sucks to hear(I am also sometimes on a budget, though not that small a budget)

Btw, I'm curious: If you could have one of the three games that are soon to be delisted, which would it be? ;)

Spectrum_Legacy: On less serious note though, I like to twist stuff to fit my narrative like any other dude and my imagination is as vivid as any respectable acid user, but can you imagine EA here explicitly requesting GOG something like "Gog listen to me bro, don't let this information slip, alright? You are only allowed to sticky the topic to your own forums - but that's it! Otherwise it's totally a hush-hush nda-style operation, you see!". xD

Dude, please have mercy on me, I have reached my limits here.
Question: I have been nothing but civil and polite to you till now....so then why are you now acting like one Mr. P.I. Staker? o.0

Anyways: I find it funny that you seem to find it such a stretch that partners like EA might have such influence with GOG re: delistings.....especially as the more major GOG partners have it with near everything else(sale discounts/times, prices, store page text & media, etc).

=-=-=-=

(edit)Just remembered: iirc a staffer once said/implied on a prior delisting (when asked why they didn't make the announcements more visible/etc) that they can only announce delistings via such threads. If one wanted to, they could likely look back at the older delisting threads and find said post.

As an aside, something to remember is there are lots of free games, even DRM-free ones on places like itch.io.

Prah: What's funny here is that the whole reason these posts are put as sticky is because the community complained that a regular thread would be lost in the sea of all other threads on the forum.... and now people are complaining that sticky threads are not visible - like come on, always gotta find something to complain about?
I, for one, would be glad if they would post a news post about this, I also would not know audit this unless some other user mentioned it in other thread which I was reading at the time.

Definitely wouldn´t hurt to be more transparent about this. Not all of us go to forum everyday, and this removal is quite on a short notice.

fronzelneekburm: Late payback for refusing Underworld Ascendant? Oh well, at least there won't be any more complaints about "why can't I buy the complete series on gog?".
Underworld Ascendant was released by 505 Games, not EA.

And I stand by what I wrote to you back then - you were the one who didn´t bother answering, so why do you bring it now?

For me it was similar - my friend on steam told me about it after he read it somewhere (I dunno where, he doesn't use gog at all, despite I keep telling him about good deals and giveaways here). He just mentioned it to me because as he knows I like my old games and use gog... A bit ironic in a way that I as a gog-er haven't seen it myself, though in all honesty I rarely check other than game-specific subforums as general one is chock full of some forum roleplays and pretend games and theorycrafting stuff I can't relate too well with, nor care much about.
Stickying the post made it more visible to those who use general tab at least which is a lot better than nothing, though there's room for improvement like said email/newsletter mention (gog is pushing them out during sales and getting more users subbed via giveaways anyway), mention on the front page/news section, etc.

Maybe any mention of delisting on a platform is seen as a bad look by marketing or pr department, so they don't advertise any game's impending digital doom. I would understand that, but I'm sure that users are not only interested in arrivals here, but also departures, no matter how much it sucks to see.

Dude, I swear that don't really have anything against you, I dunno you at all, I don't stalk you even, so no need to play that guilt card on me nor take it personally. I simply laughed some as I tried to imagine these bizzaro scenarios and possible explanations/excuses, is all. Don't really have any questions for you in kind though.

I found it quite a stretch, because I have trouble imagining with a straight face how EA whispers to GoG's ear: "You can disclose this delisting, but only a little! Obfuscate - do your worst.". Well whatever, it totally worked on me still. I'm a living proof since it flew right under my radar - kudos to ppl who took a whiff of this deal.

It just seemed(with some of the wording) that you were possibly having a joke at my expense over what I said. If I was wrong, then I of course apologize.

Well, they (big partners like EA) likely either set all this sort of stuff set up in their negotiations(when becoming partners and etc) or via email....so likely no need for such sneaky corporate missives slyly whispered in some over the top fashion in GOG's direction. ;)

Yeah, it is a nice deal(well minus the games likely being more or less "frozen in carbonite" and locked away in Jabba the EA's corporate palace afterwards, anyways).

dick1982: word. no idea why you're being downvoted. are EA simps a larger number here than i thought?
I ah, said a couple of things a few days ago.

(I called out Kovarex for not shutting his mouth, and further digging a hole to Peru.)

It's very sad to see every time I read that games will get removed, especially the games that are the essence of GOG.

SLP2000: While it's very unfortunate that those games will be removed, I'm really shocked that there are people who said they would missed to buy those games beofre removal if not Kotaku/PC gamer or else. I mean, those games are here for almost 10 years, they are classics, they were offered very very cheap (in some cases less than 1$), and you still don't have them? And it's GOG who should do better?
Thank you. My thoughts exactly.

Unless you joined this site last week, if you do not have those games yet, you obviously don't want to have them.

+1. I picked them up at the first good sale opportunity after joining in January, these are all-time historic classics and Bullfrog was a phenomenal developer back in the day.

I was being silly and I already tried to clear up any confusion about half way through the thread
