Hi all,

I've successfully registered my steam keys for Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat, yet my key for Shadow of Chernobyl gives me an 'Invalid' error!

I was even cheeky and asked a friend if I could try registering his key, and got the same error!

After a quick google this seems to be pretty common if the game was purchased directly through steam. Turns out both me and my friend did this. The one thing I couldn't find was a work around/fix so that I can get my lovely DRM free copies and FLAC album!

Anyone know if this is possible? I now have 2 legit Shadow keys and neither will register on the site :( Would sending them through to GOG support possibly get the issue resolved?

Figured I'd post here first just in case I've completely missed a simple solution!

Cheers! :D
There was some trick to finding the right code, since the game code is needed not the steam key.
I'll be back after I have found the post with what to do.

Shadow doesn't actually show a key within the steam UI itself, so I had to install the game again then grab the key from the multiplayer menu. Seems to be the only key I can find. :( If I've missed another one somewhere though, that'd be great news! :D

Thanks

That is the one I put in.

Just make sure you copied it correctly as it can be a bit tricky flicking from the code to X's.

Might be worth writing it out by hand?

Hmmm... ok that was actually what others said to do. So if your key is not working, you are out of luck, see the blue post here:

Support isn't going to help you since activating Steam keys on GOG for these games wasn't supposed to be a thing to begin with, it was only intended to work for Retail keys. However due to Stalkers long history the key databases are too mixed up, so 'some' Steam keys work, others don't, and in that case you're out of luck.

Yup, mine isn't working either. So tough luck for us. We can only hope Bluetexts will update their database to include our keys as well.

Also, my clear sky one worked and I don'y own Call of Pripyat yet.
Thanks for posting an explanation! That's fair enough if it was designed with retail keys in mind, I guess. Seems odd that the other 2 games worked fine, and I definitely didn't buy those retail! D:

Ah well, 2 out of 3 aint bad when it's free :) (Not including original Steam purchase, of course ...)

Thanks for the posts guys!

Apparently you need to install your Steam copy and then take the cd key from the registery
