Can anyone help me with downloading some Fallout 3 mods from the Nexus mods site?

I tried to do it manually, but was told I needed to register an account. According to the Steam forums info, the registration was free, yet the only options on the first page of the registration page all included various fees. So I didn't check any of the boxes and continued with the registration.

Afterwards I was told I needed to validate my registration by responding to an email that I would receive within 10 minutes (but usually instantly). This was last night, and still no email, and yes, I also checked my spam folder. I tried logging in this morning to download a Fallout 3 mod and was again told to validate my registration by responding to an email, which I still haven't received.

Is it possible for someone else who is already a member to download the mod(s), contact me by PM and have me share my email with them, and then have them email me the mod???? Or would that violate some terms of the Nexus mods site agreement???

This is incredibly frustrating, and may be the last time I try and use the nexus mods site. Which is a shame because from appearances it looks like a good source of mods for many of my favorite games.

Thanks for any help/advice.

It seems this could be a problem with your e-mail provider blocking mail from the Nexus site for some obscure reason, at least that's what I gathered from poking around in the Nexus forums a bit. Have you tried using a different e-mail address?
If that fails I think there's the possibility of contacting a Nexus admin to manually activate your account. I forgot what it's like, can you log in at all and just not download?

Not sure about sending files, though based on absolutely nothing I'd assume it's fine as long as one does not upload the files where anyone could access them. ...but it'd probably be safer to ignore my assumptions.

I can't log in at all. When I try to download the Fallout 3 Unofficial Patch, it says "there is a problem downloading the file" and underneath it says "You are not logged in". I then try to log in using my Username and password that I tried to register with last night and it says "account validation required - please respond to email" or something like that.

But there is no email, not in my inbox, not in my spam folder, and not in my trash folder.

FWIW, my email addy is at Comcast.net as Comcast is my ISP. I'm guessing this is a reasonably frequent base address for many folks. Seems strange a site would have trouble with such an addy.
downloaded
where can i upload it to a temporary host ?
my email wont allow attachments bigger then 25 mb

Hm yes, it's suggested to try a different e-mail then, although tbh, the post I found regarding this exact issue (no verification mail anywhere) is from 2008. o.0

On another note, the support request form says that
you can still login to the forums even if you haven't validated your account
so maybe you could contact staff there or open a thread on the forums to get some help. It's a bit of a pain but at least you'll have access to all the files once that's dealt with.
Nevermind folks. I have no interest in anything from the Nexus mods site.

I was able to log in, but the download speeds were so slow it was unbelievable, and a pop up showed how paying to become a "premium member" would increase download speeds.

Not interested in that type of site. At all.

Sorry for my post. If a mod wants to come along and delete this thread that would be fine.

My isp provides me with incredibly fast download speeds. I downloaded a 1GB file (the newly released OOTP 16) on Friday in less than 3 minutes (about 2 minutes, 17 seconds). This one was only something like 532 MB and after over a minute it was less than 10% done and said it had 30 minutes left.

Not interested.
I haven't used Nexus in a few months but doesn't it have multiple download servers to choose from? I know sometimes I had horrible speeds, but it was decent most of the time.

its auto choose nowadays
Well. Nexus' download speeds seem to vary a bit, my Internet isn't all that fast anyway so I wouldn't know what's good.
But if you're not interested, you're not interested! There are other mod sites like Mods Reloaded which seems to have the Unofficial FO3 Patch available, as well as a lot of others. Not sure about their download speeds, though. Just thought I'd mention it.

Pop up for premium content? YOu mean just the standard thing for downloads with support for speed issues, links to premium servers and endorsement for already downloaded mods? I never found that too intrusive.
Also, the site is usualy much faster and is not capped on some low speeds so it is either some short time issue or your internet issue.
I just tried randomly dl something and it took me 10 minutes for 1,4 GB file, fairly fast for my internet connection.

Can't you find that mod on moddb.com?

Mega upload has a new place and there is mediafire some like. Personally I would suggest him getting a different email just for the register part and not worry about using it again.

I kinda knew the owner of the nexus years ago during the whole Morrowind modding craze. He was a real douche though. I'd let him know of site problems and such and he'd respond by banning me because he thought I would make people think his site wasn't secure....mean while a coupla months ago like clock work, the Nexus site has malware and all manor of people messing with the site because he treats people poorly.

I suggest NEVER speaking while going there. Don't even tell modders you like their stuff, because one admin banned me...AGAIN for notifying this one dudes mod about a glitch. What was I banned for? Flaming/Trolling.
"Hey man there is a broken part of your mod that really sucks. Its a great mod but sucks that I cannot progress because of the glitch*explains where*...." annnnnnddd banned for that comment.

Heh, thanks for the info. Not that it matters, as I won't be dealing with Nexusmods for anything, ever, again. I don't like the way they run their site, and this post just reinforces that. Others are okay with it, fine, they'll use the site.

I'm not going to support any site in any way (even by clicking on it/registering for free) that treats folks like this. What I was experienced was blatant blackmail, sloooooooooooow download speeds, with the constant box on screen telling you that you too can experience fast download speeds....... if you pay a premium.

I already pay a premium. Over $100 to my ISP. I'm not paying a damned dime more for any end user site to get speeds I've already paid for.

Again, others don't have a problem with it, that's fine. That's your choice. This is mine, and after reading this post, I'm doing nothing but feeling better about my choice.

Yeah, unfortunately they had some mods that the modders didn't post any other location. So it kinda sucked when the adminds were as douchy as the owner. But since I got everything for the games I played, I don't have any more reason to go back to them. Which is fine because I think I may have told a few people "to have a nice day" and who knows, I may have gotten the ban hammer for another time lol XD
