Why?

Kristian: Why?
Because I'm an idiot.
Should be a false positive. Antivirus scanners do that on quite a few GOG games. Heck, they do it on all sorts of programs. It's a trade-off in the antivirus world - the more vigilant and careful your scanner is, the more likely it is to get concerned about something that's actually harmless.

You're fine.
It's AVG acting stupid....OneFiercePuppy explained quite well why.

I remember having to run around the office back in the day because McAfee had decided the executable for AutoCAD was a virus and had quarantined it on all the systems.
And there have been a couple of instances I think where the software detected itself as a virus.
Good stuff.

again, why?!

darthspudius: again, why?!
Well because it was probably a false positive and some old games had problems being installed in Program Files.
It was a jewke.

Hmm might need to make it a bit more clear next time. These kind of things are usually pretty serious on the internet. I genuinely felt the need for an answer as I have seen that being said quite a few times this past year haha.

Maybe he remembered those recent cases of folders deletion.

Installing in Program files requires elevated permissions for programs to perform some of their functions. Some games have issues with saves, for one thing, when installed there.
Poor Trojans.
Not only were they the victim of the cunning Odysseus, but they also are forever associated with computer viruses. Oh well, I guess the Greeks have enough problems...

Makes sense I suppose.
Why are all the people complaining about hacked accounts and viruses ones with zero or negative rep? Is this some sort of gog gang initiation or something?

Yeah dude, you can be in our gang. All you gotta do to join up is go over to that group of nerds over there and tell them their software sucks.
