Hikage1983: I still believe a PC port will happen eventually. They just want the easy PS4 profits first.

astroclay: I gotta say, I admire your optimism. I love JRPGs, but there are so few available here. If Falcom goes the Steam/console exclusive route, GOG will be at a serious loss for titles fitting the genre.
I am actually feeling very depressed for having to deliver such awful news so i have to counter that somehow. Just logical observations which may or may not mean something. Got nothing to lose anyway, right?
This is horrible news that it went to NISA. I'm expecting them to do another bad job just like they did with Ys VIII.

Lucumo: Meh, who cares? Falcom stopped being a PC company 10 years ago, so expecting PC releases for everything seems unwarranted.
Who cares?:

A) People who like good games. These are some of the best RPGs out there.

B) People who have already invested hundreds of hours into the previous games 5 - 7 games in the Legend of Heroes series (5 previous games [prior to CS3] have officially been published in English, and 2 others have not but do have unofficial fan translations which some people have played).

These games are heavily serialized and inter-connected with each other, so not to release them all in English and on the PC is to leave the fans hanging.

C) People who've never played these games would probably also care if they knew how good they are. But Falcom doesn't have the marketing budget nor do their games receive the same amount of media attention that most mainstream games do, so due to lack of brand recognition, a lot of potential players are simply unaware (through no fault of their own) they have been missing out on playing some great games.

You do realize it's a rhetorical question which expresses my disappointment in the games and the path Falcom took/is walking?

No, I'm not a mind-reader. I can only go by what the text actually says; not the thoughts inside of the author's mind which are not actually in the text.

I mean, a rhetorical question is a valid construct though. Taking something at face-value is also just an interpretation (albeit a completely direct one). Of course, having some extra knowledge helps the reader getting the correct one. (At least on this board, I've voiced my disappointment over recent Falcom once or twice.)
Well, fuck. That's a surefire way for me to stop caring about the franchise. Thanks, FALCOM. Fucking nepotistic deals and all that shite. Go die in a fire, NISA.
Why go with NISA when XSEED has done so many good quality ports and translations for them?!
Even if it comes to PC it probably will not come on GOG.. And don't expect a good pc port ... Look at all those feautures that xseed had on their pc port such as turbo mode , japanese language, extra voice lines, 120+ fps etc.
And I feel bad for Xseed because if it wasn't for them the trails series and ys series would not be succesful

Because $$$ .. Falcom should just let xseed handle it even for less money because if not for them the trails series would not be succesful in the west.

I'm just pissed because I like the Trails series. I have TitS and want to get ToCS, but if chapter 3 is going to be a neutered mess like Ys VIII and Persona V were..... I'll just pass on those. It makes me mad when XSEED put so much love into improving the TitS series and adding to the port to make it better than its original offering. Then we get NISA ports that are 1: so badly translated that it has to be completely redone causing nearly a year's delay (Ys VIII), 2: absent of features that were present in the console mode because they couldn't be assed to make a proper online framework for PC (Persona), 3: a technical mess that you'll be lucky to actually have work when you try to run it (Both Persona and Ys). No thanks.
For anyone interested here is Nisa's translation.... Even google translate can do it better.

I thought I was having a nightmare for a second.
This is a shame, I'd love to support the western releases of Falcoms games but I'm not going to spend a single Cent on another one of NISAs poor excuses for a localization.

Glad I learned japanese early enough so I can stick with the original version, but it's sad for those who can't do so.

ShadowWulfe: Emulators are the way to go I guess. Are there easy to use emulators for PS3 and 4?
Assuming your going to try to start using an emulator for the sole purpose of just running this one single game on it and never use said emulator again... The PS3 emulator (RPCS3) is making some progress but the PS3 version of ToCS III will be japanese only so you have to wait for someone to subtitle the entire game in english which probably won't happen for a very long time. There is no PS4 emulator since that thing has a stupid amount of DRM and security built in that they still haven't made much progress to reverse engineering it to make any headway.

Your pretty much locked to the PS4 or learning Japanese and hope the folks at RPCS3 work fast enough to get that game working. Change your chat settings and I can tell you some of the other alternatives that can't be talked about in the forum.

paladin181: Why go with NISA when XSEED has done so many good quality ports and translations for them?!
Most of the XSEED's staff for Falcom games left the company before Tom and Brittany. There is also a rumor going around that XSEED is now too busy on other proyects and wasn't that interested in outbid NISA. What I pretend to say is that XSEED is not as passionate as it was in the past about Falcom games.

Having said that, I don't think NISA is the best alternative either after the Ys VIII fiasco. But they might have learned from that, and they also claim to have back some of the XSEED old staf working on CS3 (who they are will be revealed today during the PAX event). Falcom is also said to keep an eye on NISA so they don't fuck it up again.

I don't have a PS4, so I will have to wait until the PC port is done. We'll see then if NISA localization/port is worth my money or not. I only hope they hire Durante, since he did an amazing job with CS1&2.
Well crap. And I just had one title left to go before I caught up with everything released on GOG to date. I was already feeling that Cold Steel wasn't hitting the same marks Sky was and this just makes things worse.
