The worst case scenario has happened. PS4 exclusive even. (tho i suspect that will be timed)
Your thoughts?

EDIT: Added Gematsu link with more info.

If NISA have it... good riddens on PC anyway... you KNOW they'd fuck it up (moreso than the console version)... so now PC has an unfinished seriess... screw you Falcom... Screw you NISA

I am starting to get worried about Xseed at this point....
2 really important people leaving and now this.
low rated
Meh, who cares? Falcom stopped being a PC company 10 years ago, so expecting PC releases for everything seems unwarranted.
(It will likely get a PC port anyway at some point though.)

Most ppl are worried about the localisation itself since NISA has a long history of mediocre translations.
CS3 being eventually ported to pc is a whole different beast. We will cross that bridge when we reach it.

Emulators are the way to go I guess. Are there easy to use emulators for PS3 and 4?

Well, I read about the woes at least. Apparently they already misspelled some hashtag, so it's a good start for sure.
That was a response to Bigs, in regard to the "unfinished series on PC part".

Afaik, the main PS3 one is making steady progress and a decent chunk is already playable. No idea about the performance though.

Falcom said a long time ago that 3 and 4 will be PS exclusives but what that mean in this case i don't know, it seems unlikely that Falcom would want to fuck over everyone who has bought the previous 2 and make it a permenant exclusive but stranger things has happened in the videogame industry, I don't trust NISA to make good translation and/or quality PC ports if it does get released in within a not too distant future.

It should be said though that i'm disappointed in Nihon Falcom for making this choice of platform exclusivity, the latest console i ever owned was PS2 and i'm not going back ever so i'm hoping for the best.

NISA??????????

Goodbye, game.
Pretty depressing. Trails is a series that's very focussed on inter-game consistency and Falcom switching from a publisher with a strong track record with the series to a publisher who spectacularly botched their latest release mid-arc is a pretty painful blow to the family jewels on their part.

Hmm, I dunno. I imagine the PS4 will actually be more efficient to emulate given the x86 architecture vs the PS3's weird architecture.
Hmm... if a PC port happens, I wonder if GOG will be considered a viable platform for Trails III. NISA seems pretty reluctant to release their games here, and I imagine that Ys VIII was only used to test the DRM-free waters.

Oh well, if it doesn't happen then I guess I won't feel compelled to get through the other LoH games in my backlog :P

I believe Falcom is aware of GOG. There is parity between the 2 platforms when it comes to their games. Publishers may be different (Aksys for Tokyo Xanadu etc) but they are all here. What i'm getting at is that Falcom is probably OK with DRM free, else Ys 8 would not have been released here. NISA has like one more game here right? The Silver Case sequel thingie i believe.
Just my 2 eurocents anyway.

EDIT: It is somewhat comforting to know that there is NO SAVEDATA IMPORT from Cold Steel 2 to Cold Steel 3 so some of us may be able to continue the adventure on PS4. Definately not ideal but comforting nonetheless.
I still believe a PC port will happen eventually. They just want the easy PS4 profits first.

And there I was wondering why NISA was channeling Square-Enix and announced that they would announce a game on 17th January, instead of outright saying which game it was. Makes sense since it would cause a stir.

After last year's drama, I don't blame them for not announcing anything resembling a PC port quite yet. They would only be inviting even more scorn and derision to themselves.

I gotta say, I admire your optimism. I love JRPGs, but there are so few available here. If Falcom goes the Steam/console exclusive route, GOG will be at a serious loss for titles fitting the genre.
