This actually has me interested - massive fan of the original.

Seems they're going for a 2d / 3d combo in terms of visuals - a bit like Dont Starve, but with the joy of the original Toejam and Earl game.

Thoughts?

EDIT:
Also note: the guy does an awful attampt at what I think is meant to be a Scots accent.

Edit2:

UPDATED

AWAKE FROM THE DEAD THREAD OF YESTERYEEEEAAAR!

* * * * *

Well, it released on Steam today and having been lucky enough to recieve a gift of it, I've already ploughed a good few hours into it.

Really does harken back to the original with a bunch of new things added (none of them bad thus far).

My only real issue with it is the absolute lack of key rebinds (that said, ive ended up usinga controller) and graphics options.

No word (that I know of) on a DRM Free storefront release as yet.

lol, so what exactly was with the accent?

Anyway, looks interesting, someone needs to inquire about a GOG release so that they have Kickstarter support from us.

Never used KS before, but I've no doubt someone will ask and report back!

From what I can tell there is no mention of Steam, DRM, or anything on there. We'll have to wait and see.

Or at least make sure there'll be a DRM-free release.
Nice. The first Toejam & Earl was great, I put a lot of hours into it. Not really sure how well the 4 player online will work out but if they can nail the concept and recapture the feeling of the first game, just updated, it could be amazing.
EDIT: on 2nd thought, maybe there isnt a projected release date... guess "physical goods only" doesnt include game.

Great!
I loved the first game, hopefully they will be able to finally make a sequel (yes I like to pretend T&E 2 Panic in Funkotron never existed). :)
It's a bit weird that we have to pay 15 or more dollars to have the game, I wonder who thought this was a good idea. Not many guys will pay 5$ to receive a message saying 'Thank You'.

"I don't want to be in a rush," he says. "If I can, I want to take two years to do this. I want to have a lot of time to play it and playtest it and polish it. I feel like that's what will really yield the best results."

It does look like HumaNature has a good base to work from already.
And I'm more than fine with that kind of window if it allows the creation of a game as good as the original.
Could I have Vampire Bloodlines 2 instead?
Art looks sick, I like it.

As amusing as a V:tM game made by them would be, I don't believe that's what you're after.
I love Toe Jam and Earl, and I love playing the original random world map on Wiiware title. It is nostalgic and I love the music and the generated worlds. I can't wait for this remake it seems to be a better version, can't wait for this!
Ah that is cool, the first one was definitely the best.

well... i appreciate their candid honesty. Way too many projects try to give unrealistic release estimates.. so maybe its better to just not give one.

that would be the first kickstarter in a whiiiile to convince me to join. But sadly i dont think theres any chance of it. Best we can hope for is someone makes something in the same style/spirit.
