dantefromh: Plus, the fact that they already have a mac port on games reduces the amount of work they need to do significantly.
This is true for the Witcher 2, but not really for the Witcher 3 which uses a newer engine and DirectX 11. So far they didn't plan OS X release of TW3, so most likely OpenGL work wasn't even started at all. Hopefully this will change. And they'll need to use OpenGL 4, so translation layer used in the Witcher 2 can't be applied there anymore.

I am more interested in The Witcher coming to Linux at this point. Considering how CD Projekt RED has already shown interest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Linux, and that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has a SteamDB entry and is available for download on Steam for Linux (but not yet playable), I am most worried about The Witcher. It was only made available on Mac OS through Wine, so chances are that not much effort will go into it at all.
As I wrote above, porting older titles would probably take low priority, unless there isn't much work in it (which can be the case with the Witcher 2). Porting Witcher 1 as native looks like tons of work, so I don't expect that to happen. In the best case they'll polish it under Wine (where it already works very well). Newer titles however is something that they invest most effort in, so Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 can get all the heavy lifting for OpenGL support.

This looks interesting: CD Projekt Red are looking for network programmer for Cyberpunk 2077:

And one of the requirements is:
Good knowledge of programming for the Windows and Linux/Unix platforms.

For the love of God! If the Witcher 3 would be on Linux it would be the best game and the coolest ever madee. Please, do it!

With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt being pushed back to 2015, I am not too worried as further momentum will build up for Linux in the mean time. I remain worried about The Witcher, however. A native version on Linux would give me reason to buy it again at full price on Steam (as I already bought it on a sale here at GOG).
It looks like Witcher 2 Linux port is being developed by Virtual Programming, the company which ported it to OS X as well:

That's why probably CD Projekt Red aren't hiring Linux / OpenGL developers. I wonder what it means for the Witcher 3.

As long as it comes to Linux natively and is supported as much as Windows, I'm good. I hope The Witcher will make it to Linux as well.

I think the request is drowned in the list of many others. I'm sure there should more people who are interested.

Linux owns the web server market share so requiring Linux knowledge is pretty standard stuff for that job. I unfortunately can't read into that as anything more than assuring the software can communicate with a Unix/Linux back end for Multiplayer and updates.

Really? Well I guess that gives me more time to save and get back to playing Witcher 2.

Right, it can as well mean their server backend. By the way, don't forget to vote on the actual request linked in the first post if you didn't yet.

About Witcher 3 in 2015. I'm sure that it won't have a Linux version at launch, because CD Projekt Red didn't even start porting their Red Engine to OpenGL yet or if they did - they won't make it in time for the release. But there is hope that it will happen later at some point. So let's gather more votes to demonstrate demand.

Vote has been cast.
New job position from CD Projekt Red which lists OpenGL: http://en.cdprojektred.com/jobs/junior-graphics-programmer/
Witcher 2 for Linux is out officially! Just Steam version (http://store.steampowered.com/app/20920/), but hopefully DRM-free one is coming as well.

Yep, rushed to Steam and bought it instantly. Thanks guys for finally listening and giving me another excuse to waste time \o/
