mobutu: The only way you could somehow "educate" is thru their children. Most of the people have or plan to have kids.
As far as I know every parent out there wants the best for his kid and wishes he/she'll live on a better world having a better/easier life.
So think about your kids and realize that with this "I dont care" attitude that you're having today regarding PC gaming you actively build in screwing the future gaming market for your kids.
And this could expand into other areas too, unfortunately in todays world where everybody wants your money no matter what you have to be very carefully where you're spending your money and thus what business practices you encourage or not. Because this will define the future world your kid will live in.
Sadly, most parents out there don't realize this :(
This is probably the most sound advice with regards to this matter: Education. As far as I know every parent out there wants the best for his kid and wishes he/she'll live on a better world having a better/easier life.

It is true, when people fall into a state of apathy they become easily exploited.
A few years ago, my sister introduced my brother to Steam. I warned him online activations for games is bad. Fortunately I was able to finally convince him to join GOG, not too long ago. He didn't spend too much on steam and on games that require activation.
The funny thing is, even though he agreed with me that DRM is bad he was willing to accept steam (and hoped that Valve will remove activations from games in the future), however once he bought a physical copy of Dragon Commander he had a choice between Steam and GOG... I used the opportunity to convince him to give GOG a chance.
