Thronebreaker didn't meet CDPR's sales expectations (but then again again what does these days...?). Wonder what repercussions this may have for future releases... ie Cyberpunk 2077.

Will CDPR fall to the darkside with DRM? MTX?

Guess people want a game to go with their minigames...

Way ahead of you.

GOG is taking care of the devs as we speak.

Perhaps it was not given enough publicity...

They should rather 'take care' of their PR department, who decided to scare away potential customers. I really have rarely seen a stronger anti-PR. It's as if they wanted to make sure that as few persons as possible are interested in the game.
Or they could fire the management, who thought it would be a good idea to tie Thronebreaker (you know, the game that people who didn't like the microtransaction-Gwent-scam were waiting for) so tightly to Gwent.

All in all the Thronebreaker release was thoroughly screwed up. So it's no miracle that it didn't sell well.

Yeah! I mean, why didn`t GoG advertise it, for example with a big banner on the main page?

It actually wasn't, people said so in several forums. Instead, they spammed the actual store where people already knew about it anyway for no reason other than to piss them off. Additionally, they said it's GOG-exclusive but then they also released on Steam shortly afterwards, pissing off the people who are on both stores and prefer Steam and especially those who only registered for the game here.
It's the same level of incompetence that is at work when it comes to the website (which is still completely broken) as well as social media. Makes me wish we had a proper GOG alternative.

I agree this place has seen better days... well, there's always itch.io for indies at least.

I was not pissed off at all... my monitor just decided to break itself one day because of the repeated banner stress.

Definitely. It also has a store that properly uses your screen and it even displays the names of the games.

You mean, it couldn't bear displaying it anymore and just took itself out instead? Poor monitor, but an understandable choice indeed.
A game sells less if it's exclusive to one (smaller) store only? Wow, who would have thought ... :P

I think it's a bit to soon to call the game a flop. All they really have is sales from GOG. It just released on Steam and still doesn't release on consoles until next month.

About Gwent specifically, he added: "We will carry on with our work on Gwent. We regard it as a strategic project: in addition to business expectations we also treat the game as an experiment which precedes other multiplayer products of this type."
So there will be more microtransactions? What fun.
