There's an ipad/pod game called 'Space Connection' on the app store.

Lord I hope that's not it.

JMich: That is a firewire to usb converter, and TET is upside down. So, watersomething?
Does anyone know which nebula he's standing in front of? Could that be a clue?

Maybe the Ascendency team finally got around to talking to GOG about a release?

I don't know if "connections" are made in Ascendency, but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnKthUF5yYk makes it seem possible.

If it is Ascendency, it would be nice to have the OST included! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-11W4NP1hM

OUCH to the reviews - http://store.steampowered.com/app/263800/

I rather hope not; plus I'd prefer the hints are reserved for classics.
I can't think of anything that matches all of the "clues" in the latest hint, but riffing on the "firewire" theme I'll throw "Fire Fight" out there. It was developed/published by Epic/EA, both of whom have existing relationships with GOG. And, truth be told, I've been very surprised that it hasn't already been added to GOG. It's a really nice shoot 'em up in the vain of Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Nuclear Strike, etc...
X: Beyond the Frontier
Because... an X is a 'cross'... and the adapter crosses over from one connection to the other... and TET is upside down because... reasons?

Wait was 'Beyond the Frontier' a ref to Elite 2: Frontier? I don't think I ever got that before...

*edit* actually Deep Silver picked the X series up and were rumoured to be coming here soon so maybe that WASN'T so random after all...

If only it was Homeworld :)

The main reason I say this is just because it's fresh in my mind: http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/03/06/homeworld-remastered-collection-announced-by-gearbox/

http://www.homeworldremastered.com/ (pretty cool looking collector sets!)

But alas, there's no way to prove it :(

Are there any other space games out there remotely close to Homeworld that isn't on GOG?

I was JUST thinking something similar, but more in the X-Com vein.

Cross Communication (the adapter) = Cross-Com = X-Com

:-D

As for TET being upside down I'd say it has to do with the angle of the X as opposed to an actual cross; almost as though the X is an upside down cross.

Hmm... Seems like TET plugged the firewire cable upside down Oo This can lead to broken ports. But I know a lot of broken ports, so that won't help to narrow down which game we'll see next week...
