i think you should have to have a minimum of 3 purchased games in your library and over 20 hours played on games you own, this will get rid of the spammers as they wont wanna have to invest time or money to spam some random adverts i nthe forums,

what do you guys think
Ridiculous. It not only cuts off potential customers from posting on the forum, it cuts off customers who bought a game or two, and above that it cuts off anybody who doesn't use Galaxy.

I think even a minimum 1 non-free game bought would be enough :)

You'll soon get comments from people who will tell you that people will be in need to open threads if they encounter problems with their first purchased game...and that they can't do that, if they have to buy two more games first.
And that they probably don't want to spend money on two more games on this shop, if they can't ask for help over the issues they have with their first game.
These people are not wrong...

I agree with a minimum of one game that must be purchased here, before you can open a new thread.

Plus: the opportunity to create a new thread must be limited to one thread/day in their first month here, two threads/day in their second month here...up to - let's say - a maximum of five new threads/day after six months.

And that restriction (five new threads/day) should be for everyone.

There's no way anyone needs to open up more than five threads per day...not for normal purposes, anyway.
Edit: and ninja'd already... ;)

Linking play time to posting rights may be a problem.

Play time statistics are optional. They can be disabled in Galaxy and are never recorded for offline installs.

The requirement for play time would exclude otherwise legitimate forum users.
yep, i agree. there should definitely be some minimum point of entry.
Minimum of 100 games sounds entirely fair, it's not much and would weed out not only bots but also many other annoying beasts that that like roaming here.

Like Mortius1 said, how do you suppose the game time be measured? I don't even use (nor want to use) Galaxy, and quite a few others don't either.
i think there should be a cap of two threads per hour for accounts created within a day or so. That would at least stop them from creating many threads

aluinie: two threads per hour
Out of genuine curiosity: for what purposes could anyone here need the ability to create two threads per hour?

Mind you: we're not talking about comments here...we're talking about threads.

You know - the things in which the comments then are posted.

Even requiring one $1 purchased game is enough to discourage creating a lot of "zero game" multiple accounts for the sole purpose of forum spamming. However play-time tracking for "minimum hours" is useless on GOG as many of us don't use Galaxy. (Edit: It's useless even on Steam too as 1. You can fake having high hours by leaving a game running over night without even playing it, and 2. Offline Mode isn't counted either).

No to any forced client tracking bs. I would rather dial the spammer on Whats App than that.

"Spun off my comments into a new thread so I don't derail that other one, and now I feel like playing a game. Huh. This game is borked. I'll post a question so maybe someone will get back to me. I'll play something else. Crap, I forgot I'm stuck. I'll post a question while I'm thinking about it so I don't forge...wait, why can't I create a thread?"
Gee, do I have to write why I think this is a bad idea all over again?
