Thankfully, Skybound has confirmed that this was just some troll making up random nonsense.

They must make it free for some period of time? No.

Anyway the person asking didn't want the devs to make it free, they wanted GOG to make it free for them after they had already given money to Steam. They need to realize Connect is a rare special marketing tool GOG has used (and likely costs GOG money), and GOG seems to be phasing it out in favor of Galaxy 2 ("keep track of all your games all in one client") anyway.

I'll admit GOG forum users can be too crotchety sometimes however.
