B1tF1ghter: It would also be nice to have more filters in library. Such as ability to filter based on type (game, demo, STANDALONE goodies, etc).

Also, perhaps it's just me but the library refuses to display more than 1 tag per game on a grid view even tho the space for additional ones is plentiful in the div.

Mori_Yuki: It's not just you. It would be nice to see all tags checked which in my case should display Downloaded and Finished.
Add your thoughts to this thread! Better collection management. Sparked by the affluence of demos in GOG (which is a great thing!)

Carradice: For those who remember both III, IV, and V: did not several of the innovations of IV pass on to V?
Yes. V basically took the best bits of the entire HoM&M franchise, combined them and added more stuff on top of that. Mechanics-wise, it is the most advanced game by far.

The world that they created for Heroes V is also worth a mention. They had a dedicated team for it and there is a lot of history, lore, art etc. for pretty much everything. It is pretty rich if you read into it.

Is XCOM 2 worth getting just for the base game? I hate it when games leave some locked content in game if DLCs are not bought e.g. Dead Cells has region of map you can get access but the door to next level is blocked unless you buy a DLC.

Edit: I don't mind not having multiplayer btw, just interested in single player

Mori_Yuki: Seeing as how Steam has those timed demos might really attract people to GOG if for no other reason.
Keep in mind tho that Valve merely introduced the possibility and it's entirely in developers' / publishers' hands to use it or not.
So every time you see timed demo on Steam it's entirely fault of developer / publisher choosing to do that.
This is just as Valve making it possible for developers to use Valve-made DRM software, such as Steam stub or Steam CEG, as well as things like Steamworks (not entirely DRM per se), but not forcing them to use it (there are games on Steam that have NO DRM of any kind, not even Steam stub [which is awfully basic by itself and protects only from total casuals] nor Steamworks).
Also, iirc there already was at least 1 such timed demo on GOG.

Mori_Yuki: Consider how much worse this situation gets when there is more than one special sales page. You got to pay extra each time instead of adding the items to your basket allowing you to pay for all your items. What say you, GOG - if anything?
This is the first time I'm hearing about this. But then again I am not exactly buying much at one time here.

Yes.

Resistance Warrior Pack: Cosmetic only. "Be the baddie." :-P
Reinforcement Pack: Contains three previously separated packs:
- Anarchy’s Children: Cosmetic only.
- ALIEN HUNTERS: In short, you do not want this.
- SHEN’S LAST GIFT: " introduces a new soldier class with unique upgradeable weapons, armor and customization features, and a new narrative-driven mission and map." The only worthwhile one. This is why they put it together with the other two.

If you suffer from completionism, the Reinforcement Pack is the only one worth your money, and that for Shen's Last Gift. Not indispensable by any means to enjoy XCOM2, though.

War of the Chosen: This is for people who have already played the game to death and want something different. It changes the game a lot.

Hunter65536: Is XCOM 2 worth getting just for the base game?
Not really, no.

You should definitely at least get the War of the Chosen expansion pack if you buy that game. The game is much worse without it.

That expansion pack adds essential features like three new classes who can do things that the regular classes cannot and which make the game much more fun if you have them.

And War of the Chosen also brings in three alien mega-bosses who hunt you consistently & repeatedly throughout the campaign, and try to mess up your battles out of the blue by showing up at the worst possible times, until if & when you eliminate them permanently (which is possible to do, but doing that is a very hard process to complete...which it should be)...which also make the game a lot of more fun than it is without them in it (the base game doesn't have them at all).

Plus if you eventually do defeat one and/or all of them permanently, then you get to keep the weapons they used against you, and equip them onto your own characters, which are often the best-in-class (and most fun to use) weapons in the entire game for that particular role...but those weapons aren't in the base game.

Right now, I can only think of the caravans, but there are probably a couple other innovations that were kept.

From the ones that have not been used, I’m mostly missing:
- the mutually exclusive unit-producing buildings
- the hero progression with class changes
- the ability to have more than one hero per army (even if two would have been enough in my opinion)
- the ability to have hero-less armies
Homeworld Emergence is only $1
Thank You for adding Carrion -33% :D
and a serious soundtrack https://www.gog.com/game/carrion_ost -32%

Tried to play a pirate version of this but it has given me a feeling of being a fake monster, without a real chew & digest & grow natural ability. Guessing I am soft as Carrion itself lol

Interesting that you can play some parts of the game as a human to uncover the origins of the monster.

There is plenty of games out there on promo, I know... ;P

Thanks for your inputs Carradice and Ancient-Red-Dragon, definitely super informative. It seems like War of chosen is something I should get after I have gotten used to base game since I'm not very used to turn based games. I think the challenge added by the DLC might make it hard for me to complete the game at all.
