ZFR: ...

I... couldn't read a breadcrumb if it kicked me in the face.

I spent 30 mins looking at the Zounds post.
It's ok, we keep you around for your maths skills.

So... what I can say with reasonable certainty is the Zazak did not perform the N2 kill. Doesn't mean he's not mafia... but we know that Pooka was a mafia role cop and probably wasn't doing the killing. Assuming a two person scumteam, the other person would be the one doing the killing.

If Zazak is a Mafia Goon (ninja) then... well there'll be plenty of time to swear at Lift later.

avatar
ZFR: OK, overall looks legit.

I mean the paranoiac in me is asking if it isn't too convenient that you investigated the player you got killed. We did same thing with Joe when I was scum.

But OK.

I'm happy to wait before you post your N3 result.
Yeah, Joe turned out to be an unfortunate choice. :(

yogsloth: no-lynch might be the right call here
Could you explain?

Also, just to put it out there, if I were scum buddies with Pooka, I most certainly wouldn't have left him out of my reads the way that I have. I either would have marked him as obvious scum to create distance, or I would marked him as town to try and convince others. Being completely distant from your scum buddy is a really good way to lose. I've honestly had a tough time reading him, and frankly was pretty concerned that he'd flip town and me being the one that put him at L-1 would get lynched for it. (Although it appears now that it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation).

In addition, if me and Pooka had come up with a plan to have one of us lynched to make the other seem town, I would have been on his wagon a whole lot sooner than I was, since just putting him at L-1 really doesn't give me a whole lot of town points.
So, one at a time.

I'd be pretty surprised if Pooka tripled-down on those SPF votes to start the game on his only buddy.

And while I certainly believe that SPF is capable of faking elaborate role breadcrumbs as mafia to falsify a claim, the way he's going about it doesn't jibe with a mafia motivation. As a sub in, coming in for a slot that had some suspicion, mafia absolutely needs me on the table as a potential mis-lynch, and him clearing me at this juncture wouldn't be impossible as scum, just highly unlikely.

SPF is off the table for me.

... he counters the two roles we have so far?

Incidentally, I wondered if we had Watcher + Motion Detector in one game? But I suppose it's not unlikely.

I love how limited in use a compulsive self-watcher is. The one visitor they can't tell us about is their murderer.

This makes a lot of sense. I can buy that.

That's also totally reasonable.

Unvote yogsloth

So I'll assume yogsloth and SPF are town. That leaves GR, Micro, and ZFR.

GR - I've suspected him for a while now, so I would be fine with him as the next lynch. (My primary hesitation is still his lack of coming to his own defense, which just doesn't seem like a very pro-scum move).

Micro - I'm unsure. He's fluctuated somewhat in my eyes. I wouldn't be opposed to lynching him, but I don't think he'd be my first choice. I could be way off here, but since he was asking who a cop should investigate, does that imply he may be one? If so, we still just have a big pile of WIFOM which sucks. All in all, unsure.

ZFR - If you're scum you deserve to win. I've had you in my town pile for a while, and I think I'm gonna stick by that.

So yeah, basically I'm willing to vote GR or Micro.

PookaMustard: I see that Micro and GR both responded, with the earlier doing some decent contributions in the span of a couple hours, always great to see. But the latter hasn't resonated much with me. Yes, I know IRL is a [REDACTED], but I wasn't particularly impressed.

Vote GameRager
Next post, explanation:

avatar
PookaMustard: This post was made before Micro posted a fair bit of quality content. That leaves GameRager who has put neither quantity or quality on the ground. Micro is now in Slightly Lean Town Pile.
Then he likes a GR post and changes vote:

PookaMustard: Vote Cadaver747
Waffles:

avatar
PookaMustard: I guess it's about time we moved on from this unimaginably boring day. But let's not end it on a no-lynch, that would be even more boring.
I would be willing to vote either GR, or Cadaver (who I'm voting right now). Not willing to vote anyone else.
Responds to Cadaver, and changes vote:

avatar
PookaMustard: I'd rather vote for you or Cadaver, but, seeing as neither of you are going anywhere today...

Vote AFP
…to a player he started this chain of thought with on his firm Town pile.

At this point the vote count was:

Pooka 3 - Cadaver (853), ZFR (857), SPF (884)
yogs 1 - AFP (846)
GR 1 - micro (603)
Cadaver 1 - Pooka (713)
AFP 1 - GR (860)

…but it appears from context that Pooka might not have been aware that SPF changed his vote from AFP to him. Pooka may have though he was moving the AFP wagon to 3 votes and into the lead.

Right afterward AFP vote Pooka to make it:

Pooka 4 - Cadaver (853), ZFR (857), SPF (884), AFP (888)
GR 1 - micro (603)
Cadaver 1 - Pooka (713)
AFP 1 - GR (860)

And then Pooka hammers himself.

Also consider, Pooka had GR as a perfectly viable lynch alternative. Micro was voting for him and I had already said in the thread that I was likely to just marry my vote to his, which means that GR wagon was really a perfectly viable alternative.

In my initial reading, I felt somewhat unfavorable about AFP, but reading this sequence, seeing how it went down, the timing of the votes, and the fact that they both could have swung to GR but didn’t…

To my surprise, I’m going to have to take AFP off the table as well.

A_Future_Pilot: Could you explain?
Just to make it simpler to achieve lynch and get rid of the messy extra slot.

Thinking about it though, it’s probably best to do it one day later to make an F3 instead of an F4 if we don’t lynch correctly today.
Man, sorry I messed up those vote counts. Didn't move Pooka's vote, and that was the whole point. Should have been:
Pooka 3 - Cadaver (853), ZFR (857), SPF (884)
AFP 2 - GR (860), Pooka (885)
yogs 1 - AFP (846)
GR 1 - micro (603)

Wait what? I mean, I agree with SPF's reasoning and think it makes a lot more sense that you're town than that you're a ninja, but how in the world does getting "rid of the messy extra slot" help town?

With an extra slot, it's much more difficult to achieve majority to lynch, and it provides particular problems if you have four players left... because then you have to have all three town voting together on the remaining mafia, and that's like herding cats.

Going to an odd number of players, if there are no shenanigans with extra night kills from either side, make it a nice, clean 1-for-1 trade each cycle.

Maybe I just have OCD.

Gonna take a break for a while, will come back later and try to sort through ZFR/fish/GR
Hmm, you make some good points there yogs.

I'm inclined to lean towards GR as final scum. He was maybe stalling a bit about voting for Pooka... but do we think that Pooka would really deny the last scum the town points that would have been gained from hammering? It gets very WIFOM when I keep thinking about it.

Either the other scum was already on the wagon... ZFR?

Or Pooka knew we'd assume that and self-hammered as a diversion.

Or we're giving Pooka too much credit and she didn't even think of getting a buddy to hammer... or even just gave up on waiting for said buddy to hammer.

My gut says GR (although it could be because I've not eaten much today).

This jumps out:

avatar
GameRager: (Also Pooka just voted AFP.....so will you be sticking to that new wagon or not?)
It came right after I moved my vote from AFP to Pooka and Pooka voted AFP. Pooka's wagon was leading by 1 at that point. It might be nothing, or it might be because GR wanted to get AFP back to being the leading wagon.
OK, I lied, I'm still reading.

Consecutive posts from GR, separated by over 50 posts and at least one day:

avatar
GameRager: To all: Done for now....suspecting Pooka a bit due to the whole "painting zazak as a possible third third party" thing, but other than that I got not much(at least that I can recall...might have to check back and try to jog my memory a bit more).
avatar
GameRager: Pooka(You)-Maybe Town

The reason for not leaning you more town(atm) is that you seem to be focusing on me even after I listed my IRL......in such games it is normally polite/default to not question IRL as much......though I lean you somewhat town for the same reason(suspecting me).
@GR - explain how Pooka went from being suspected to being leaned Town in one post?

SirPrimalform: You have any thoughts on Yogs clearing AFP?
Hmm... not sure. Makes sense in a way I guess. Would he vote his scumbuddy when he could easily go GR instead?

However, as yogs noted Pooka did think the leading wagons were Pooka(3), AFP(2), so, with time running out, there is a chance that he did think that it's either him or his scumbuddy. And when his scumbuddy made it L-1 he voted in frustration.

Seems weaker now I admit. Plus AFP doesn't seem like the kind of scumbuddy you could get angry at.

So maybe Pooka self-hammered out of frustration and GR was his scumbuddy? You were scum partners with GR. Was he the kind of scum-partner that would make you want to self-hammer.

The alternative is Micro.

In both MYLO and LYLO you have to lynch scum. So there is something to be said about doing a no-lynch first. The pool of players in which scum could hide gets smaller, investigative roles get an extra Night and you get off-parity.

We're probably not at MYLO yet, but the idea is same.
