EnforcerSunWoo: Still kinda weary that it might be a game in legal limbo due to the publishers involved. Can anyone site a case where either Ocean or Interplay published a game that would of been a limited publishing contract where they did not hold onto the rights afterwards? Another World is the only game that I can think of, but that was a special case due to Delphine being involved. Rage of Mages is another... Interplay published in North America and by different companies elsewhere, which is certainly in legal limbo due to licensing issues.

SCPM: Other games that Ocean Software published but are now creator-owned include Worms United and World Rally Fever, so it's definitely not unprecedented.
Looking further, Mr. Geandaud now runs a consultancy firm JG Conseils:

Strangely, I'm still having a hard time finding any kind of contact information. But as ex-manager of Amazing Studio, he ought to know what happened to the rights to Heart of Darkness. Just finding some contact information will be the first step.
Edit: More info:
"Jugement prononçant la liquidation judiciaire, date de cessation des paiements le 27 janvier 2009 désignant liquidateur Selarl Mb en la personne de me Corre bernard 58 boulevard de Sebastopol 75003 Paris. Les déclarations de créances sont à déposer au liquidateur dans les deux mois de la présente publication."
Essentially, the liquidation of Amazing Studio was handled by Mr. Bernard Corre. A search for his name and company gives this email address: bcorre (at) emj-mandataires.com
I emailed Eric Chahi at the alt email address given, but I contemplate that it will end up exactly the same as your attempt and will go without response.

Someone that is well versed in French will most likely be needed to contact Mr. Bernard Corre. Even then, he might be unwilling to give out any information, If I am correct in my assumption that he is a lawyer. I guess given that this is the most tangible lead we have at the moment, someone really should make an attempt to contact him.

Anyway, I'm going to keep looking for additional contact info. If I find something I will let you know.
Éric Chahi worked with Martial Hesse-Dréville on the re-release of Another World for consoles this year. Martial Hesse-Dréville seems to live in Berlin, so here in Germany.

I'll see if I can contact him to ask about a way to contact Éric Chahi.

Edit: Message to Martial Hesse-Dréville was sent yesterday. Let's wait and see.

Maybe some others would like to chime in and point out how great it would be to have a re-release of Paraworld?

Did'd. :)

There's some cool stuff happening on my end, but I'm not comfortable sharing it yet. There may be some results in the coming months, though!

Good to hear that there is at least some progress being made. Hopefully this will lead to future gog releases!
Oh great! Inspired by everyone in this thread I decided to look around over who currently owns the right to . As it turns out, I [url=http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_search_for_game_rights_a_diaryesque_thread/post139]didn't have to go too far for get the answer.

Take2. It had to be Take2. ¬¬*

Unfazed, I decide to hunt Dark Colony... just to get to the exact same dead end.

Well now I'm putting plan B together. I need some help gathering a few guns (could be props), ten meters of rope, a loaned chopper and Strauss Zelnick (Take2's CEO)'s address. At least if it works we'd be seeing several others highly anticipated titles here.

Good luck with that! Too many of my own searches have ended up with one or another of the Abandon All Hope circle of publishers as well. Damn those cascading mergers.

You can do your part here - http://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_drmfree_minirevolutions (specifically, http://forums.2k.com/showthread.php?642401-Take2-2K-please-bring-your-classics-to-GOG-com) - but ultimately, unfortunately, it is up to GOG to strike the deal. I have a little hope since 2K has an office in California, but unfortunately.2, Take 2's headquarters are in New York.
Martial Hesse-Dréville has answered. Hopefully he'll provide a way to contact Éric Chahi. Let's see.

Thanks. I'll get to it after I get back from work.

Yeah, most of the times a company buys another's IP only to sit on it and let it disappear. Call me simpleminded but, if it was my company doing the buyout I would be damn sure someone would be busy sorting the IP. If you won't make a profit from it why bother spending money on a company whose most valuable assets are intellectual properties after all?
