Rage of Mages 1&2 and Evil Islands: Curse of the Lost Soul owned by Nival Interactive. Who already have games on GOG. So it should be possible right?

Just heard back from Mev Dinc of Vivid Image fame, and he does in fact hold the rights to the whole Vivid Image catalogue. The only DOS game in there is First Samurai, but it's the best as well and an absolute classic. Other titles would be viable if GOG eventually went the Amiga emulation route.

I've made the offer to bring his contact information to GOG if he is interested, so we'll see what he says. I would dearly love to have First Samurai here.

Just heard from Mev Dinc and he is indeed interested in bringing his Vivid Image titles to GOG. I've sent his info on, so it's in the hands of the GOGlords now.

Wow, it's amazing that a thread like this exists. Can't believe how active people can be in these matters! I get frustrated that a lot of these games are simply held up on legal rights, and people too stubborn of unaware that they can do something about it which will benefit the consumers and themselves. You guys helping to make them realize is amazing :)

Keep it up, and hopefully no classic will be left shelved, in time!

It's all good. Much of my work on this has halted because real life is starting to take back over, so just do what you can when you have time. :)

Pinged Nigel Kershaw about Daemonsgate again, but no reply as yet. He admitted that he doesn't know much about it, so may not get any further with him. And as he was very nice to me about my initial request, I won't pester him further if there is no additional reply.

Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes - The Case of Serrated Scalpel, from EA
Lost Mind of Dr. Brain, from Sierra (I guess this one isn't DOS; compatibility might be tough)
Lost Vikings, from Interplay (although Blizzard produced it, so they might have taken back the rights. Somebody said ............Blackthorne was in a similar situation)
Lurking Horror, from Infocom (telling you, GOG, create some special Infocom text adventure bundles; just figure ............out how people can search for specific titles in the search box. Do it for DCT. ;)
Machiavelli the Prince, from MicroProse (assuming the rights are still with Hasbro or Infogrames/Atari) (somebody ............mentioned this is a very good managerial/trading game, I believe)
Manhunter 1&2 - New York, from Sierra (dat color, dem pixels, *sees screenshots* F-ck me that's weird.)
Mega Lo Mania, from Ubisoft (like Populous?)
Micro Machines, from Codemasters

Thoughts on these titles?

Sorry to bump this from page 2 but I'm working my way through the whole thing again! Two things:

Mega-lo-Mania - Why is Ubisoft mentioned for this one? I'm getting (Image Works/Mirrorsoft - Acclaim - Playdom/Disney) Also Its Sensible Software, IIRC they kept a lot of their own rights and ended up selling them to Virgin when Drug & Sex & Rock & Roll (the game they were trying to make) bankrupted them! Maybe someone could ask John Hare about old Sensible rights?

*edit* reading more, Throwback got a load of old Acclaim rights so it might have gone there via that route, Codemasters have Sensible's Cannon Fodder, originally published by Virgin here, unclear what other Sensible rights they have

Micro Machines its easy to forget that this was based on a line of extra miniature car toys by a company that is now part of Hasbro so there might be licensing issues there

Mechwarrior / Commander that whole franchise was licensed from a FASA tabletop hobby gaming board game so has the same licensing issues Games Workshop property licensees, for example, might have!
