Eschalon: Book Ι now FREE & seminal RPGs up to 80% off!

In many ways, the arrival of Torment: Tides of Numenera feels like the culmination of the isometric RPGs resurgence which started in recent years. With their impressive comeback still in full force, what better time to remind ourselves of their brilliance than an awesome RPG Sale?

Kicking things off with a bang, Eschalon: Book I is now totally FREE! GOG.com has a 24h head-start on this giveaway so fans of hardcore RPGs can already go ahead and treat themselves to this hidden gem. The other two entries in the series, Eschalon: Book II and III, also received a permanent price drop - on top of that, they are 60% off for the duration of this sale.

This is also the perfect opportunity to discover or perhaps revisit several paragons of the isometric-RPG genre, like Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and its recent expansion Siege of Dragonspear, the revitalized Shadowrun series, and Wasteland 2 Director's Cut, among others.

Celebrate your love for RPGs with a free copy of Eschalon: Book I and a grand Sale featuring a selection of celebrated games, going for up to -80%.

The RPG Sale will last until March 5, 8AM UTC.

thanks for the free eshalon book 1, will give it a go and if I like it will try the others, cheers
Haven't played any Eschalon title so far, so thanks for the freebie! Maybe it gets me interested in the series al last ;-)
Thanks GOG for this sale! Now (with simultaneous LucasArts sale) most of my wishlist is discounted 8)

And thanks for Eschalon. I'll take if for someone else, because I have already got it here. However I think Basilisk may be a bit disappointed with the action's results - first, the news may be covered with Torment release, and second, buying sequel makes no sense without finishing E1 and that may be hard row to hoe, believe me :D
Already got all Eschalon titles, but nice to see Eschalon Book I becoming free permanently; cheers Basilisk Games.

Nice sale for RPG fans, discounts included. *points at Disney Weekly Sale*
Nice free game, GOG!

Are there any mods for Eschalon: Book I to increase the resolution?
Oh, look! Another freebie I already own... from an entire series that's still sitting in my backlog. Whoopsee! ;) *eyes Avadon 3 and Shadowrun: Hong Kong even though he has yet to play all the previous games he owns from those series* Doh!

Don't give fig about the "enhanced" IE games, since I already own the classics - I have yet to finish one of them. That fanfic special, aka Dragonspear, doesn't look all that enticing either.

Aside: I swear I could stop buying games this instant and be set for 3-4 years, and that's probably a generous underestimate. But... gotta have more! Heh. It also seems like I'm playing a lot of my more recent purchases while ignoring my huge backlog.

gamesfreak64: And how many old non DOS games (windows games) will run 100% problem free on win 10? cause sooner or later there is no escaping win10, old windows wont recognise modern hardware so we are stuck and forced to be all using the awful win 10 in a few years.
Well, the DOS games will always work in DosBOX or forks ... so, no problem here.

As for Windows games, you can always try glide and DX wrappers, like nGlide, dgVoodoo, DxWnd etc.

Escpecially dgVoodoo has some nice features, that can translate old DirectX functions into newer versions.

This is, how I got many games working on modern systems, like VR Sports Powerboat Racing, Star Wars Pod Racer, SW Shadows of the Empire (before GOG and Steam got the updated versions) and others.

Anyway, wow, very nice sale, some interesting games. My only problem is the free time to play these, if I buy them.
So, I have to rethink.

Noblica89: Anyone have reccomendations for someone who has never played a Spiderweb developed game where to start?Or if you had to pick 2 , which one would you get?
Avernum: Escape From The Pit is the best one to start.
Received an email about Shadowrun Returns being on sale, but wow it's expensive at 80% off.

Haha, it's the GOGlitch™
So the OG Baldur's Gate is available only bundled with EE? Can't find it on GoG.

Avernum The Complete Saga would be good. It's a remake of the Exile games with the new Avernum games being a remake of it. To really appreciate it all though one has to start with Exile and work up to Avadon but it may not be every modern gamer's cup of tea.
