I think the worst is Low Ratiing people on the gifting threads as an way to lower the chances of other people winning something while the abuser increases his chances.

That's why I stay the hell away from that place. For the sake of my blood pressure, if nothing else.
I don't clearly get how that works, though. Would the abuser be using alts to downrep targets? I was under the impression that you'd need to get a lot of "-" clicks to have a post marked as "Low Rated", so would you need a lot of alts to do it?

The most obvious low rated is if people posted more than one post especially if it's done in the same page or in one by one.

Thats a common rule of course to prevent greed.

The beautiful thing about the internet is that everyone is a nobody and all people can judge you on is the content you write. It's like a clean slate for everyone at every time. These reputation-systems are ruining it, eventually every system will be turned into some sort of popularity contest. You will have people trying to break the system to get the best rep, you will have people down-repping just because, you will have forum celebrities and you will have cliques. Basically the antithesis to what makes the internet great.

So in a nutshell, I wouldn't mind seeing the rep system gone.
