dixxn: Too bad that my system can run both of these games just fine. :D. That's okay, though, it's just I was curious to try this pinata. Got bad luck with such promotion on G2A once, and never do that again since. So I'll never do this kind of thing again, period. Her Story seems interesting, I'll give it a try later...

Croyzers: If you are using the product then yeah, you aren't going to be eligable. Her Story is great and I would really recommend it.

GOG did give me a full refund on the 3 games (out of 4) that didn't work for me from the pinata sale - good on you GOG.

This may not help you, but in the UK, we have a law that states that we can return a product for a full refund (or get an item of equivalent value) as long as the product hasn't been opened / used.

I think GOG should do the honourable thing here - for those people who haven't downloaded their "won" game, they should give customers the opportunity to either refund or replace the said game.
WONTFIX: buy&return unless honeypot appears (like "Tyranny").

GOG actually does (Refunding. I don't know about replacing). However, it isn't actually because of the Pinata draw, Irish leaves, (insert current gambling roller slot)..etc, but because everything you purchase here (with the exception of in-game currency aka "Gwent") is covered by their "30 day Money back guarantee", similarly to Steam's refunds. No questions asked.

The caveat for GOG, as you mentioned, is that the game must be untouched. No downloads (including extras), and preferably, do not even attempt to meddle the game in your library in any way (categorizing/hiding the game).

And GOG is pretty cool about it, I think. If you meet the above, you get your refund/wallet credits/gift code. If you don't, you still might be able to get them to turn the game into a gift code, instead of just only removing it from your library (It isn't confirmed, I just think so).

This isn't a casino. This isn't gambling. As you are garuanteed a product, this is actually a twisted form of a transaction, and as such, is covered by consumer law. If it was true gambling, you would potentially have nothing afterwards and also, GOG would need a gambling license to operate in the UK.

GOG have a duty to abide by the law. If a consumer hasn't touched the product then they are entitled to a refund / replacement. I know this goes against the "spirit" of this pinata sale, but that's not the point. GOG would have known about these laws and should have realised that this kind of sale is unworkable. Pointing me to terms of reference, policy etc is irrelevant here.

Don't blame me that GOG screwed up on this. If we, as consumers, are getting screwed over, then I think it's very important we make our voices heard.

I'm a huge supporter of gog, I love DRM free games and love old games. GOG knows how many games I have bought from them. I've wrote more posts in the last 24 hrs than I have in the 5 years I've been a customer with GOG, such has been my frustration with this. I never, ever thought something like this could have happened with GOG.

Great, so, if people have received a game from the pinata sale, and haven't touched it, GOG will offer refund / gift code / wallet credit?

Just a shame this wasn't made clear at the start. Hopefully for a lot of people who have been burned by the received games make use of this fact and apply for such refunds / gift code/ wallet credit.

Any thoughts on The Guild 2 Renaissance? How good a game is it?

Are you asking, because you want a refund? If so, go to your "Orders & Settings", and then click on the item (that has the green shield icon), and choose "contact support", so your order ID is referenced in the ticket (saving back and forth trips), and explain your situation.

Fairfox: So probs ain't nothing stopping peeps buying twenty individual orders of these thangs and then just refunding the ones they don't want/aren't as high-cost when compared to the asking price. Which is kinda lame-sauce but I guess totes fines within GOGies terms? Meh, gambling is a fool's game anyhoohar.
Wow, 20 pinatas, for buyer's remorse, that's massive. I only caved and bought a few (with the appropriate remorse (save for 1) due to my anal-retentiveness). But yeah, if you are going to spend that much, you might as well buy a game you actually want on GOG, since that amount is totally equal to a game's full price.

Thanks Nicole28, that's really useful info

I've already got a refund for the 3 games that didn't work on my system. I'm hoping that for all the others who have posted in this thread saying they got games that they will never download will apply for refunds. Hopefully, they get their money back, and GOG takes a long hard look about this sale.

This is the worst sale I've ever seen on GOG.

Less than a full day in and they had already exhausted the keys for over 40 games (they actually started much sooner than that).

. . . and this is running for almost two more weeks?

They should probably end it now and save everyone a headache - just don't do the Pinata, the Pool was way too shallow.

What is this about about exhausting keys? The GOG staffer that was here earlier seemed to imply that there was no such thing? Has he been unambiguously contradicted by another GOG staffer? If not why do people think it is thing? How would you know such a thing?

Quite easy.

I bought several Pinatas yesterday Evening - one at a time over a period of several minutes - 4 of them where duplicates of games I already have on GOG.

Is a list of the games that were available - the ones tagged (OUT ?) are games I do not have on GOG, and so I should have gotten one of those instead of the 4 duplicates I got.

This morning I ran across the post you just referenced, and thinking they had fixed things, bought another Pinata.
Another duplicate - in fact one of a game I had just gotten a refund for as being a duplicate.

So, if the Pool is effectively endless, I should have gotten one of those 41 games tagged as (OUT ?) and not a duplicate (5 in all since yesterday).

If they really aren't out of Keys, then . . .

Pool is unknown. It effectively means we (gamblers) don't know the rules that govern the deal. Which games with what probability (constant or not)?
I presume people will calm down and be less dissapointed if they know the rules of the game.

That really really sounds like a bug(or a logic error in the code or something like that perhaps..) since you really shouldn't get duplicates at all in the first place.

I'm not sure I'd rely on that as even partially solid evidence. There have been reports of duplicate games being handed out from the start of the sale. Although the sheer number you've experienced seems to indicate a possibly broader issue.

true, I bought a few pinatas (one at a time) after reading the list of yours and seeing there was a bunch I was missing on gog. But all I got was duplicates of games I already owned (except one). Also doesn't the FAQ state Quote:

Long answer: No duplicates, unless you already own every single game available in the Piñata pool at the time of your purchase. If you already have all the games, you'll be notified before checking out and your mystery game will be converted into a giftable copy – this code will never expire.

So did you get a notification before checking out that you'll get a duplicate? because I sure didn't!
