Tyrrhia: An Egyptian judoka refused to shake hands with his Israeli opponent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwfnnRoyZOk

Really hoping that he will be severely punished for violating both Olympic and judo values. But I doubt that will be the case because he's coming from an Arab country, especially since a spokesman for the international judo federation has already said:

This is already a big improvement that Arabic countries accept to fight Israel.

Tyrrhia: They wouldn't want to be wrongly accused of racism, now would they? Also, I find it most ironic that his first name is Islam, much like the religion that is currently begging for the West to accept multiculturalism—you probably couldn't even make that up!
The internet went "OHMYGOSH HOW RUDE" about this incident but it happens from time to time when Israeli and arab compatitors meet, and sometimes they even prefer to resign before the match/game/whatever and not meet an Israeli.

It's sad how butthurt they are that they remember 1967 (Six Day War) more than they remember 1979 (Israel-Egypt peace treaty).

The best part ? The Israeli judoka won bronze.

Well, if they want to resign, no problem, let them resign. But this time, they accepted to fight, so they must comply with the Olympic spirit of sportsmanship. I'm not even sure the Egyptian judoka would have shaken hands if he had won.

I'm disappointed that Or Sasson didn't win the gold medal, though: Teddy Riner's final was boring, and it would have been perfect since "or" means "gold" in French.
I had no idea there were that many really tall attractive women in Serbia.

I think I'll move there.

Balkan women are hot in general, they're on par with the Slavic ones (I can confirm from IRL experience).

You might although prefer Croatia as you can the enjoy the Croatian coastline where they developed the touristic facilities. It will surely change you from boring USA ;)

Yeah, very attractive, they will love you till the last penny. Most of them.

On topic:

Holy cow, we destroyed Australia in basketball in semi-finals 87:61 (in group stage they won 95:80, payback's a bitch :P). Now we face Zee Americans again, we lost 94:91 in group stage, we will see if we got what it takes for gold medal.

Our female basketball team won bronze medal, we beat France 70-63. Men water polo team just won gold medal vs Croatia, 11-7. Female volleyball team plays in finals vs China in 3 hours. And tomorrow our men basketball team plays finals vs USA. Good day for team sports for Serbia. ^.^

IIRC in that game you guys scored about 2 points the first 5 minutes. The players were really nervous. But by now they should know that they're not facing the actual Dream Team and play their usual basketball from the very start of the game.

I hope you'll avenge us :)

It was a terrible first quarter. But then we started to play and keep up with them. If we play defense like we did vs Australia we will have bigger chances but those guys will have more rebounds than any team and they will punish every mistake you make. We will see. I wish you goodluck vs Australia tomorrow for bronze medal, i'm cheering for you.
Not much to report from here, with all of 4 medals total for Romania, gold for women's epee team fencing, silver for men's doubles tennis and bronzes for women's 8+1 rowing and men's 85 kg weightlifting. President of the Olympic Committee resigned and all, but not like it was a surprise. Even the official target was 6 medals total (not met, but anyway, way below past results), nothing about which kind even for those.

Pity about the women's handball team though. Coming on quite a high but started with a defeat to Angola, then were trashed by Brazil (26-13), then the wins against Montenegro and Spain weren't enough when in the last group stage round they lost 28-27 to Norway and Angola failed to defeat Spain, so went home from the group stage.
Speaking of Spain, that had to be gutting, their QF match against France, lead by 7 goals at half time, still have 3 ahead with 3 min to go, get equalized at the end, then lose in extra time, with the last shot trying to equalize again and go into the 2nd extra time hitting the post, bouncing to the wing but the winger failing to grab it to try another shot at the last second.

There were also some hopes for women's judo, but one was leading but got defeated 20 sec from the end and another went into a long extra time and finally the opponent scored after over 3 min of extra time, so nearly twice the normal duration of a women's judo fight.
But on the topic of fighting, was zapping around the broadcasts I think a couple of night ago or so and caught a taekwondo match, no clue how that works (not that I knew how judo worked), where supposedly the favorite, think he was Turkish, was leading 4-0 10 sec from the end, got penalized by 1 point then, then the opponent managed a 3-point hit 2 sec from the end to take it to extra time, where he quickly scored the winning point too. That must have been either awesome or awful, depending on which side you were on.

Thanks! I'll be cheering for Serbia for sure. We've had a great generation (quite old now, and I'm afraid tomorrow they'll be too tired to beat Australia, btw), but I've been amazed for decades at the constant flow of talent you guys produce in a variety of sports, but specially basketball.

Just look at Teodosic now. The guy always looks like it's Sunday morning and he just woke up after a crazy night, and then he gets the ball and does what he does... That's pure talent, man. There's no comparing the physical play of most American players to the likes of him (Bodiroga, Djordjevic himself... pardon the spelling :D)

Speaking of which, here's some (short) motivation for tomorrow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQEzmPKdqt4 :)
