Having played that brainless Diablo 3 RoS a week and uninstalled it, now I feel the itch for a true good RPG.

What I mean "complex"? Big, long, strong story, strong character developing, many choices, many items, creatures, locations and so on. The game where I will be spending more time on inventory, dialogue or character screens than on main screen clicking hordes of monsters to death. The game where I will need my brain more than my indicative finger.

What would be your favorite?
Morrowind, with mods.
Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 or Pillars of Eternity I'd say. All three still contain a lot of combat tho. Planescape Torment, but that's mostly dialogue. Dark Souls actually seems to fit the bill the best of all of these, as long as you're masochistic (and it's not a cRPG I suppose)
While it doesn't really have a story(not deep) or character interactions there is Nethack..(http://www.nethack.org/) the Situational combat aspects are really out of this world, makes you really think at times.

Although I love Planescape: Torment, I would say the complete Neverwinter Nights II at first.

D&D3.5 (although it the system I like the most by far), Mask of the Betrayer is one of the best video game addons with very strong characters and atmosphere, Storm of Zehir expands the system.

The complete Neverwinter Nights II, while has flaws, is somehow un spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate + Planescape Torment + Icewind Dale.
Wizardry.
Probably some roguelike.
Baldur's Gate II. Wizardry maybe, but have not played that - good I have it here.
I would say Ultima 7, combat isnt that important there, but lots of exploreing. Most mentioned games here still have alot of combat ;)
Planescape: Torment is pretty darn fun. I'm almost finished it and it has been a blast.
Fallout 1 and 2 would be my suggestions.

Ultima VII fits that bill quite nicely. The series in general is a bit more about exploration and interaction than combat, but most of them still rely heavily on it, which isn't really the case in VII.

The Quest for Glory series is also really great in that regard. There will be lots of combat if you play as a fighter, of course, but that's not the focus of the games. You can even avoid combat entirely if you play as a thief, until QfG 5, that is.

Older as the above mentioned but still worth playing: Geneforce Saga and Realms of Arkania.
i'm guessing wizardry 8/- if only because of their difficulty.

Icewind Dale is pretty much the Fallout Tactics version of BGt. i think OP will hate it if he's tired of hacking up skeletons.

Alpha Protocol for his choices and consequences system. That, if you manage to pass over the uninspired tutorial.
