Helllo,

What did you guys think of it? I thought it was great. The only problem I had was the animation at times looked like something from the early 2000s. Particularly the truck/chase scene.

I had problems with the animations as well, they looked very choppy at some points.
It was good-ish, but there's no way it could've sucked, the original comic has one of the greatest plots.

Edited the post.

funny thing is that alan moore hates it
according to him it has nothing worthwhile to say

>>In a 2000 interview, Moore said: "I don't think it's a very good book. It's not saying anything very interesting."<<

in 2003 he is even more scathing about it

>>The Killing Joke is a story about Batman and the Joker; it isn't about anything that you're ever going to encounter in real life, because Batman and the Joker are not like any human beings that have ever lived. So there's no important human information being imparted ... Yeah, it was something that I thought was clumsy, misjudged and had no real human importance. It was just about a couple of licensed DC characters that didn't really relate to the real world in any way<<

its his work so he sees it differently then we do and he can tear ti to shreds if he wants
but still
ouch

He certainly is weird in that regard, but you're right, it's his work and he 'perceives' it in a different way than we do.

It's interesting he said that because the animated adaptation goes into more depth with the characters.

from what i know moore avoids movie adaptations of his work
he loaths what they did with the league of extraordinary gentlemen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_League_of_Extraordinary_Gentlemen_%28film%29#Production
disliked how abberline in from hell was turned in to an "absinth swilling dandy" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_Hell_%28film%29#Reception
and was scathing about v for vendetta

>>[The movie] has been "turned into a Bush-era parable by people too timid to set a political satire in their own country.... It's a thwarted and frustrated and largely impotent American liberal fantasy of someone with American liberal values standing up against a state run by neoconservatives – which is not what the comic V for Vendetta was about. It was about fascism, it was about anarchy, it was about England<<
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta#Adaptations

so i cant imagine him being thrilled or even interested in what they did with the killing joke
considering how much he hates the story to begin with

anyway i wil be watching this movie when it will be released on home media
so some time in august probably
I'm not much bothered by Moore's hate for his works adaptations. I respect his opinion, but it certainly does not mean I can't enjoy those movies, and in fact I have enjoyed them all to varying degrees (V for Vendetta and Watchmen are great movies in my opinion, even if highly imperfect as adaptations).

I was never even much bothered by Moore's apparent didain for The Killing Joke comics. Apparently he hates that one, but considers the god-awful League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century to be a worthwile work. In fact the whole coment about "Batman and Joker are not like any human beings that have ever lived. So there's no important human information being imparted" pretty much invalidates all of his work. I hate to break it to him, but there ain't any real people like Dr Manhattan or V either. So yeah, Moore can be a great writer (or at least he was), but I don't pay much attention to him as a person.

Anyway, I'm curious about the movie, but what I've read about the material added in the prologue made me cringe just reading it, and my expectations are now much lowered.

Yeah, some scenes are rather cringy, but overall it's a decent movie.
From what I've seen in the Arkham scene clip released some time ago, the Animations quality was very bad... That coupled with the adittion of the extra scenes, makes me not have any hurry in watching it!

I'm not a Moore disciple, however I'm not fond of "tweaking up" storylines (I'm looking at you, Snyder! :P).

Just curious, why the spoilers warning for such an old storyline?

I absolutely couldn't stay awake for V for Vendetta.
