Ubivis: ...
Thanks for the heads up. I don't have the time either, with full time job, family and *gasp* games... But it would be a shame to shut it down.

Ubivis: Anyone interested in taking over the wiki and domain(s)?
I can host it but I:m not in a position to do any real custom programming on it. I know it has a couple of custom modules in there. I can bug fix though if something comes up.

edit: I have to wonder with folks locking down their profiles will mean to someone trying to export out their game list.

The real custom stuff are a few modules from Barefoot_Monkey, those are running quite well ;)

Thanks for that :)

I just made some changes to the front page of the wiki to mention what's going on, and also to suggest that anyone wanting a new account should contact me directly through chat. I hope it's alright as I wrote it.

Ubivis: as you might have noticed, I was not really able to keep the Wiki up to date and running in a well condition.
As my free time for such huge projects is very limited, I will need to shut it down very soon.

Anyone interested in taking over the wiki and domain(s)?

A lot of work of many of you lovely GOG Community Members have been put into it so it would be very sad to see it dying :(

I will put the site to read only by 1st of June and will pull an SQL Dump.

If you're interested in keeping the page alive and running, please get in contact with me that we can arrange the necessary transactions of the files and domains.
What is the current situation?

If gogwiki.com accounts are still available, please create one for me.

Can I have mine killed instead?
It has been ages since I last went on there, and I,m not really contributing in any way...
The GOGWiki site appears to be down.
Is this temporary or permanent?
The page is still down at the moment.
@Ubivis you mentioned an SQL dump?
A good idea would be to sanitize it (remove passwords and such) and upload it to archive.org so it is not lost.
bump

two years and the great website is dead :(
Sad, that there is no unofficial (or official, but without any guarantees) Wiki for GOG out there...

I just found out about it. One the one hand, this would be great, on the other I think it would be hard work to maintain such a "database" of games. IMHO the wiki would have lots of outdated pages, if not community members volunteer to keep them updated, which—again—is IMHO a lot of work...

So, I did find it in the Wayback Machine: snapshot from 2019-06-13. The list of articles, snapshot from 2019-04-07, is especially interesting...

I still think that such a community wiki should be hosted by GOG. Making it officially unofficial...;-)

As a writer and a GOG loyalist for a few years now, I'd LOVE to get involved in a GOG wiki. I had no idea one even existed, it's a shame it's not still around. GOG definitely should release their own version of a wiki, though they'll definitely need to appoint a decent moderation team and proper guidelines to ensure things stay objective and impartial.
