due to recent news that source, unreal, unity will be free (or semi free in some cases i think)

i´m playing with the idea that in a future i will too will be fooling around with this engines to see if i can make a game.

Just to clarify i´m not a programmer, designer, story teller, engineer, nothing related to what usually involves making a game . But with time maybe i can make a square move... maybe.

anyway, my dream game will be to make a 2d Metroidvania. since not konami or igarashi (the creator of simphony of the night) is not doing anything, maybe i can make one for me .The weapon of choice, of course the whip (which there´s a few games that use it ) with rpg elements and branching paths with diferent endings (similar to outrun haha)

what is your dream game? what will you like to do.

i truly don't mean any disrespect to actual programmers in the forums that are actually doing something right now.

but i was just wondering what will you like to make.
RPG/RTS/Tactics hybrid (think Spellforce+terrain, elevation, morale and other bonuses) with randomized subquests that have a degree of influence on both story and gameplay (example: a fellow general asks you to send him some of your troops to help with some mission the details of which he doesn't disclose. On your previous playthrough you helped him and it turned out to be a raid on some village that's gone terribly and you people were seen there so you got the reputation of a bloodthirsty bastard in this country; besides, some of your men were killed in action. You decide to play along once again and give him the troops - and this time it's a rescue mission that can go well or not so well depending on the actual strength of those troops, but if it goes well, you share the credit for the good deed and get a handsome reward. How can you tell what the general is up to? There'd be numerous slight hints that allow you to make your choice. The diversity of possible outcomes could be really vast).

Sacrifice 2
As I always say when this question arise : Heroes of Fallout & Tactics.
My dream game as a kid pretty much came true with GTA 3 - I used to imagine a Elite or Mercenary only in a proper built-up city where you drove cars and could be on foot and stuff!
My dream game, my dream console or something like that is The Holodeck from Star Trek and the knowledge to program it :)
If I was given $100m to create a game with no need to earn them back, I'd create a story-based superhero MMORPG. That's my dream game, not necessarily to play (although I think it will be fun to play), but to create. There's just so much stuff that could be done there, and both design and implementation of it are interesting to me.
Because it's on my mind right now - the entire world of Midkemia realised in a Skyrim-esque way. Maybe with a three or four person co-op model.

that will be rad, the problem always with virtual reality is that we need to move around with a joystick.

maybe for motion you can use a suspended plastic bubble, i can definitely see it, a person wearing the oculus walking on a bubble, just dont put a sword inside

Skyrim with better graphics and more of everything.

If I can't have that I'd take Sword of Aragon and/or Kohan: Ahriman's Gift with better graphics. That and being able to run well on new OSs is all I desperately need.
At the moment i have one game on my mind which i would really like to see:

a cold-war game set in divided Berlin, possibly open-worldish, with a story based on something like "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold".
