nuuikle: Good stuff! I've a tiny smidge of Glenfiddich 15 at the back of the cupboard, waiting for an occasion.
orcishgamer: Why wait?!!! Drinking 12 year Abelour right now. I've never tried Aberlour, but it looks like one I'd enjoy by the descriptions out there.

the big fallacy of threads like this, is - well i dunno about you guys- but i have never in my LIFE been able to find a specific thread like this WHILE im drunk. i always give up after 5 seconds, pick any old thread, and just say "FUggit tihs thred will dO..."
so in that way, EVERY thread is potentially a drunk thread for me!!
and yeah, rum ftw :D

Well, since my bottle is "scotch" it says "whiskey" on it. I don't want to imply that different whiskeys don't taste different but it's the "same" kind of alcohol more or less (bourbon too, though it's made with corn mash usually, iirc).
When I make people ginger whiskeys out of my well I use Buffalo Trace, which is a bourbon, because it's basically the same thing, especially once you dump a bunch of ginger ale in there.

I had never heard of ginger ale and whiskey as a mixed drink, so my immediate reaction to this fragment was to imagine a whiskey made with ginger. "Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter."
I'm on a glass of Breckenridge Christmas ale at the moment, but I have to say I prefer New Belgium's winter ale. This is too thin in body to be this sweet.

Do any of you match your drinks to the games your playing?
For instance, I like to play Tex Murphy with a glass of whisky (I know it should be bourbon, but that's hard to come by in the UK). I don't even like whisky that much, but it gets me in character!

So, I've been looking into the possibility of importing beer for personal consumption - as some of my favourite beers are not available around here.
But it's way, way too pricey. :(
First I obviously need to pay for the beer.
Then shipping.
A tax of $0.75 for each liter and alcohol percentage (so a case of 24 33cl bottles at 6,5% would be $8.67)
An environment protection tax of $0.89 per bottle.
A tax for single-use containers of $0.18 per bottle
All this is summed up, to give the value needed for tolling.
Then I need to pay 0,71% of the toll value (which includes the shipping costs) in food production taxes
And finally, add on top of all that a 25% VAT.
