DadJoke007: Given the context and the power of deduction, his point was obvious, even if the "less bright" part was unnecessary.
Maybe it was, but it was likely(dunno 100% as dunno specific figures/data) technically correct(i.e. said countries vs others in various aspects)....also I have a feeling there was no 100% PC way to say what I wanted to and get my point(which I felt was a valid and reasonable one) across....i.e. that some countries with such superstitions in a vast swatch of the population might do dumb things that would lead to this spreading and killing off a good number of innocent people & possibly spreading to neighboring areas.

DadJoke007: Trump bans all travel from Europe, now we'll just have to wait for EU/Europe to take some action as well. Who am I kidding, if any action is eventually taken at some point it will be too little and too late.
I hope we can nip this thing in the bud, tbh.....I live a lifestyle that isolates me most of the time, so I should be safe, but family and friends do not & I worry for/about them.

(Also thanks for the link....watching it in a bit)

Basic guidelines, people should reduce social activity but I see people continue it. Not proud of my tendencies towards the hikkiomori, hikikomori lifestyle, but I love games, news and exploring the world on the internet.

My friends keep suggesting gatherings, lunch in a group and all which I find irritating.

Surgical masks don't do much. People are just breathing through the sides of their faces and it seems to embolden them to keep meeting. Strange I read about people getting sneezed on, pretty damned offensive for that to happen, suppose surgical masks could prevent that.

Exact.
I have seen the images of the empty cities in China a month ago but, believe me, watching the images is completely different than living the same reality in person. Aside from the worriment caused by the virus, and by the economical problems of the present and mainly for the future, Italians are living in a surreal reality, a fucking nightmare.

Did we have the link to this data source yet for global infection rates etc?

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

It's updated all the time (usually a few times a day) AND most importantly shows you the daily increases per nation (+100 etc), so you can get a very good picture on how fast it is spreading near you.

OP, please stick it in your first post if you think it helpful?

Eh, it might just be us types(hikkis/neets/introverts/etc) that come out the best in this due to how we live....so there's that at least. :)

I do a bit as well, but more because i'm not an outdoors type person....I DID like going out a tiny bit more when the world situation was better, though.

Yeah people need to use their masks properly.

Thanks for posting this...it'll likely help a bunch of people.

That said I agree: OP, can you do that for everyone? It'd likely be of help to some to keep such links all in one place anyways.

Dropping in with some info from Japan.

School's been out for i think 2 weeks now, I see em everywhere hanging out. I don't think there's a long term plan for these kids either, just shutting shit down then extending as they see fit.

Was out a couple times this weekend to chill, pretty normal amounts of people to be honest. It may have been the unconcerned kids though.

People still hoarding toilet paper, not hoarding canned goods.

I think there has been another early closing time extension for stores. Parks like Disney and such have obviously been closed.

Overall concern seems pretty minimal though. Probably because numbers of infected have been kept low on purpose via not testing, and i guess not adding people who have recovered in some reports? A lot of hearsay, but there are definitely way more people infected than Japan's official numbers have let on.

edit: O yea, I forgot to post this article about a man so learnt he was infected and purposefully went to bars to infect others, what a fuckwad.
some people are just shitty fuckin people. Japanese people especially can be some spiteful mofos,

Also a hilariously Japanese apology by the mayor of the city of all people.

I imagine parents are going to have issues keeping them under control(if they aren't already)....without something to do young people tend to not know what to do with themselves.

(In case anyone sees this bit, I didn't mean that in a derogatory way...just stating a fact from when I was a kid)

I wonder what they'll do when they need food to use(after some time) with said toilet paper....maybe barter some for food like in the past? :\

Well at least they let y'all do some stuff still and have some free reign if you're careful.

Is that just your thoughts or have you seen people that might be/are sick with this as you move around? Just curious.

But still, I wouldn't put it past leaderships of most countries...they don't want people to panic needlessly/in large amounts.

It's ALL types of people....we had a guy in MO who went to an event(sporting or music, I forget which) while he was supposed to self quarantine.

What was it, if I may ask?
Our government just declared a state of emergency. Border checks along the border with Germany and Austria, access to the country only at specific crossings, restricted access to "high-risk areas" and the same for people coming to our country from them.

High-risk areas are currently listed as: China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, France, Great Britain.

Violating this is punishable by law.

Also from 6 AM tomorrow, the original ban of events with more than 100 participants is going to be extended to events with above 30 people. Pubs and restaurants must be closed from 8 PM till 6 AM.

This is going to last for 30 days minimum.

We currently have 96 confirmed cases.

Pah, let em hoard all the toilet paper they want. I'm out collecting a crapload of bottle caps!

Nah, honestly, I don't get that toilet paper thing either. Yesterday (the day people here decided to start hoarding) I saw an old couple in the supermarket, with four packs of toilet paper in their cart (and nothing else!). That's 48 rolls! I never really counted how much toilet paper I need, but I'm pretty sure one roll lasts for about three weeks. So... 48 rolls would be enough for me to have a clean butthole for two and a half years oO

ps. A friend of me was out of toilet paper and wanted to buy some yesterday. He's wiping his butt wth paper towels now *lol*
Norway is just now (just a few hours ago) closing everything except the essentials. Nearly 700 cases so far.

Primeminister was asked about the late implementation compared to other countries (Denmark was mentioned), for which she just replied "everything has a time, and now was the time right". The other ministers just noded and basically said the same XD
Meanwhile, in Finland...

...the leftist government with its teenage prime minister girl (Sanna Marin) is afraid to make any big decisions. Mainly they just say "we follow the situation, it would be wise not to attend big parties and gatherings, please try to avoid making unnecessary flights abroad (LOL!)" etc.

Two of my colleagues are now in US on vacation, I guess they will stay there until 14th of April unless they are able to get some return flight somehow.

The most "drastic" move here is that some employers are asking their employees to work from home if possible, and some (but not most) schools and daycares may shut their doors for some time. I am now agreeing with some of my colleagues if only one of us goes to office and others work from home.

On the bright side, I haven't seen any sign of hoarding of food or toilet paper in supermarkets etc. We are out of hand disinfectants and mouth masks, but there's plenty of everything else, even toilet paper. I guess it helps Finland produces a lot of toiler paper itself.
