gogtrial34987: Saints Row was a freebie in April. That was one of the last freebies from before the policy change, which happened in the May/June timeframe (not certain exactly when). I know that Fantasy General from June (not the earlier one from April) had an expiring code. Maybe also Mount & Blade from May? But definitely everything since June.
Exactly. Moreover it's hard to show the time of the change, because at first GOG was giving "never-expiring" codes, which, well, did expired (like my code for Fantasy General). We had huge flame about that here. From that moment all GOG free codes has clear limit date.

zeffyr: I'm pretty confident you're wrong. It clearly depends on the nature of promo. For example few months ago Saints Row 2 was given away for free and the keys are valid indefinitely, it has nothing to do with alleged change of GOG's policy, because clearly none exists as long as promos go.

Any proof/source for that?

Read the comments in a thread like GOG is invalidating gift keys wich have a never expire limit or The Expiring Codes Clearinghouse Thread - or look up the various announcement threads for each freebie since then.

kmcoolice: Hey, shouldn't "Deadlight: Director's Cut" be with dagger symbol (†)? This game was free if I correctly remember.
It should be. Thanks for pointing that out.

Maybe you're right then. We'll see :)
Just my 2cts here: I would say that it does not matter if the keys on the list were bought or received as a freebie. The only thing that matters is wether they ever WERE freebies on GOG because if that was the case those keys are probably already owned by many people here on GOG therefore the demand would not be so big and therefore the key would be considered to be not as valuable as it normally would. If my theory would not be correct zeogold could have duplicate entrys with the same key - one daggered and one not daggered - everytime somebody donates a bought key which already is in the list as a daggered freebie. Afaik that never happened. Like I said it's just a theory and only zeogold can tell if it's a valid one or not.

You are indeed correct, this is how I treat it. Even if somebody bought a key, which is still quite appreciated, if it becomes a freebie, I dagger it since demand for it will drop substantially and it'll be hard to give away since everybody and their Aunt Sally will have a copy. Similarly with keys on the non-GOG edition.

O.K. - but what if I don't even HAVE an Aunt Sally or what if my aunts are still all passed away? So only everybody but not their Aunt Sally would have the key ... should it be half daggered then?

Bio Menace once was offered with a free puppy now all you get is a stupid Ouija board. This place really is going downhill ;)

Those Syberia codes shouldn't be wasted. So, ask a code for your kids, your wife/husband, your stepmom...

Open a GOG account for them and offer them for Christmas... But don't let them vanish !

X-com: I have Syberia and Tales from the Borderlands codes, if you want one of them to redeem for yourself only, let me know
Nice offer but if you don't want them to be added tro the list by giving those to zeogold it's the wrong thread.
There are several threads which would be better for this:
