P1na: Anyway, I didn't come here for religion arguments but to bitch. It's been one of those days today.

I woke up in Derry (Northern Ireland) with the sole intention of doing a tour to visit the giant's causeway, as I had visited the city itself before. I was slightly worried if I would have a place on the bus, as the tickets had to be bought on the spot, so I went a bit ahead of time. After waiting for half an hour under the rain, turned out I was the only one wanting to do the tour today and so they canceled. Seriously, if you're going to do that, don't market it as "we go every day"!. So I went back to the hostel (I'll omit the part where I almost lost my deposit due to forgetfulness) and I headed to the bus to go to Belfast. It also turns out that the same tour is available from Belfast, and it's actually cheaper, so I didn't have to go to Derry to begin with. Sigh.

So I went to the bus station and I missed the bus to Belfast. But I saw a bus to Dublin (via airport) instead, so I decided to take it because there was little more point to staying on the road when tomorrow is a BIG day at work. Unfortunately, the bus going to Dublin (via airport) didn't stop at the airport (where I intended to recharge my laptop's battery for the second bus trip to Cork), and left me at the city centre instead. Luckily, I know where the bus station is, so I headed there to take the next bus to Cork. And guess what? Strike.

Now, I deeply respect strikes, but they sure suck when they catch you unprepared. Since there was a bus strike, I headed to the train station, but I got it wrong and I had to go to a second train station, where I missed the train to Cork for 5 minutes. I had to wait for the next train, which btw costs 4 times as much as the bus, and finally headed towards Cork, although I still had to take tha last part of the trip by bus due to work in progress on the railway. It was about then when I realized that even if the main Irish bus lines (bus eireann) where on strike, the aircoach to Cork was from a different company and would probably still run, but too late.

I finally got to Cork, but when I headed to the local bus to get to my house... surprise! no service, either. I would have sworn that there was service in Dublin... anyway, I had to walk a whole hour with my little backpack to get home. Now I'm tired and I'm going to sleep.

I wish you all a better day.
Man, that almost read like a Kafka novel. I am stressed now. :p

Not really a complaint but I didn't know where else to put this. Dr Joyce Brothers passed away today. I'd really like to make a thread and tell some off color jokes but no one here likes it when I make fun of dead people. Someone else wanna do it for me?

Oh she was 85 and a billionaire so don't give me this "How sad, how tragic crap." I'd be honored to make it to 45 with a dollar to my name. :D

I have no faith in any of the network executives giving a good show a chance to succeed, and NBC has to be one of the worst for new (Non Realty TV) shows sticking around. I lost most of my faith in network TV after the Firefly debacle (Let's not advertise and move the show to a different day and time slot every week).

Yeah, some things I just don't mess with unless I want to piss someone off. I have no problem at all with off color jokes, but I know it is one of those things that sets people off.

How are you going to convince GOG to stop releasing new games?

I had to be macho and eat the hot curry. I had to accept what I had ordered despite not knowing what it was and eat it in order to solidify the masculine macho man randy savage that I am in preparation for the bait and switch life of spider killing while I hide behind a chair my future spouse will endure.

In reality even the hot packets of monster munch are too hot for me. My mouth will never forgive me.

Your mouth! Just wait until tomorrow when you wish a bidet was installed in your toilet.

I wonder if I can get the day off if I explain it was a really hot curry.
I'm just sad about the state of human evolution. We appear to be prepping to take a few steps backward. Near where I live there are some places so dangerous the cops won't even answer calls there. The only time they go in those areas is to escort EMTs like my brother when they get called out.

On a similar note where I live the neighbors never stop bitching about my yard. I can't have even a small sign up, or a flag the size I want, lately they are bitching that I haven't mowed yet. Oh, their damn cats keep pissing on my car windshield too.

Name these places, please. I'm curious. I agree with you. It seems we are going backwards, not forwards.

I don't know if it is the same in US, but here people even with their own houses and yards are bound by law to keep it tidy. You'll get warnings and ultimately fines if you keep your (back)yard in a shitty condition, at least if it is visible to other people going by your house.

Maybe in the rural area where the next neighbor is several miles from you they are more lax about this.
